I'm starting to doubt that he is purebred

Boxer Pal
Im new and Im not exactly sure if this posting is suppose to go here. Well we were told by the breeder that he is and both parents were on site. His mother is a flashy fawn and his father is a flashy brindle, but we are by no means experts with the boxer bred so with only that info to go on we thought he was purebred. We have since been studying and learning all we can about the bred and he has already stolen our hearts so no matter what he's our baby, but I know my husband is alittle hurt when people make comments that our boxer doesn't look like a boxer. The main red flag is he doesn't seem to have a mask and I know thats pretty much a dead giveaway but I'm hopiing there is a reason. Even our vet said she doesn't believe his is a boxer, she said he looked like a pit/lab mix and said that she also had doubts because he licks alot which made no sense to me. Well it's time to let you see him, Please be kind

In the kindest possible way (I have no wish to be mean - just to answer your question honestly), I would not believe that this is a purebred boxer puppy.

As you note, no black mask (actually not even a black nose - its fawn/pink). Shape of muzzle is very wrong. As your vet noted, she has more of a lab or pit look about her than boxer. A question though - does she really have blue eyes? Or is that just the photo?

Did the rest of her litter look similar? Not that it really means that much - it is technically possible for every puppy in a litter to have a different father (two or more sires isn't unusual, if they had access to the bitch).

I am sorry, but I have to agree with gmacleod. He is very very cute. If you paid a lot of money for him, I would be going to this so called breeder and asking for some of my money back.

I dont see boxer in this little one either. Very cute, but I wouldnt think hes a boxer. My oldest (Karma) is often mistaken for a Pit mix. We have often thought she doesnt look like a full blooded boxer either, but the AKC paper work says she is. We wonder if something other than a boxer was her daddy. Either way I love her to death and I never want to be without her.

Very cute pup, but I have to agree with the others that it certainly is not purebred. I would be inclined to think pit-mix.

I see pit, and they do have pink noses. Also, the face, muzzle in particular, is not square like a boxer. And of course, no black mask.

I think the puppy is very cute, but if you paid a lot of money you should be asking for it back.

I would agree pit in the nose, but I definately can see some lab too.

No boxer at all I wouldn't think. :( You did, however, get a very pretty mix.

He's adorable regardless! If you're dying to know, you could get a genetic test done. I think they are around $100. I don't know if they are 100% accurate but a friend of ours got one done for their rescued pup and the breeds that came back made total sense in looking at their pup.
