Konah's Mom
Boxer Booster
I'm so proud of my boo man! He's just over 7 months old and about 56-60 lbs and generally laid back but can get hyper (as you all know). I was a little worried when we went to my bf's parent's place for our christmas yesterday. His cousins were over and they have 4 kids aged 6, 4 and twins at 18 months. I knew he'd never hurt them but might bowl them over since he's litterally the same size or bigger than the three smallest. Konah was so amazing. He mostly sat and licked...and licked and licked the kids faces and hands. The three smallest were freaking out and would cry but the 6 year old was in love. She hugged him, followed him, kissed him and let him kiss her incessantly. Konah was in heaven too, he really seemed to love the kids and when the babies would cry, he'd cock his head and whine to go lick them *L*.
That's the great part, here's the bad:
The mom however was totally freaking out saying that she shouldn't hug or pet him, or approach him and that he'd hurt her. When i pointed out that Konah ws being very well behaved and wouldn't hurt a fly she's like, "I'd rather tell her that he'll attack her so she won't go to him" I was almost speechless! Why in god's name would you want your child to be afraid of dogs. Aware yes. I mean obviously not all dogs like kids and it's always better to be safe than sorry but then teach her how to approach dogs and what to look for (i.e. don't approach a dog who is alone or chained or growling, always ask the owner before you pet them, don't run at or away from them etc). She was yelling at her kid "Don't go near that dog. he doesn't know you and he'll attack you!" Meanwhile Konah straining to lick the girls hand and his nubby is just a goin. Poor kid. Why would you want to frighten your kid about all dogs?
Anyway, sorry this is so long I just wanted to vent and say again how utterly proud of Konah i am. It was another case of amazing boxer love.
