Joe will be 2 in 2 weeks and has been limping. I've checked his paw for stickers but found nothing. His activity level has been normal with no whimpering or whining when I examine his leg. Has anyone experienced this or something similar? The vet said he might have just pulled a muscle but this has been going on now for 1-1/2 months! Please e-mail any suggestions and/or possibilities.

If things don't improve I would recommend reattending the vets.

Judah had a similar problem that just appeared about 6 weeks ago, after no improvement he was x-rayed and he was diagnosed with hip dysplasia - not the kind of news we wanted to hear as he is only 15mths old.
We now have to limit his exercise to walks on the lead and swimming.
I didn't think anything much of it either when it first appeared but am glad that we found out early so we could get things moving treatment wise (even though they are all only short term solutions)

I don't want to freak you out as it may be nothing but a pulled muscle, but just thought my experience might help you.

Cheers.

Kinda off subject

Loki has had spouts of limping once in awhile, after running and play, or taking a fall from one of his boxer puppy, 4 foot, flying leaps through the air. His limping never lasted more than a day though. I would get you puppy checked out for hip dysplasia, or other bone and muscle probllems. I hope everything is fine.

I just wanted to share a funny limping story here. I took Loki out for a walk in my neighborhood a couple months ago and all the neighborhood kids were out playing. I let one of the older kids hold Loki's leash while I jumped rope with them. I don't know what I was thinking, as I am not quite 12 years old anymore. I ended up tripping on the rope and getting a bad sprained ankle and a chip fracture. Loki rushed over as I hit the ground (ripping the leash right outta the kids hand,) to kiss my face and nudge me around. I put Loki in his crate and went to the hospital. When I came home I was on crutches, and limping around the house. Loki started limping on the same leg as me that night and would only limp when I was up trying to get around.
He was copying me! I checked him for tenderness and injury, nothing. Just an adorable case of loyality and admiration.

Lottza luv & good luck,

Did your vet do any xrays? Did he give your guy any thing for the pain? Is it every day, all the time, certain times? What kind/ how often does he excersize? Sorry, so many questions, just trying to get a better picture of what may be going on

My 2 year old has been limping for the last couple of months. He has now been seen by 3 different vets and cleared of all major issues, including negative x-rays for HD. Since he walks a tremendous amount at times, every inch of his legs and hips have been checked and x-rayed showing absolutely nothing wrong. All 3 vets believe that the way that he is sleeping (balled up) is placing undue pressure on nerves in his rear legs basically putting his leg(s) to sleep. That seems to be right since the predominant amount of his limping has been when he has been resting or sleeping. It seems to be less of a problem if I roll him into the "sphynx" or onto his side when he is sleeping also.

If your vet can't find anything wrong, it's an idea for him to follow up on.
