Well I went to the Apple Orchard and got a HUGE bag of apples. I set them on the porch (in my garage) so they'd stay good & I won't have to worry about fruit flies. Well, thinking they were safe & my dogs won't get into them...man was I wrong!!!!

I let the dogs out this morning and Zeus runs out & so does Baylee. Then Brandy slowly makes her way out the door and as I am getting ready to shut the door I see her put her head into the bag, grab an apple and run out the garage. I had to sit there for a minute to realize exactly what just happened. Zeus mean while thinks I am giving away somethin good & looks at Brandy happily running (with her fresh gala apple) trying to find the perfect place to enjoy it. He comes up to the porch and looks at me like well....where's mine?? OMG it was SO FUNNY! I let Brandy have that apple, gave Zeus a treat along with Baylee but decided I better put up the bag of apples and get a storage container to put them in before Brandy eats the whole stinkin bag! My hubby didn't believe me at first til Brandy came in with her-almost gone- apple. I just wonder how many she took yesturday that I didn't know about!!

LOL-be careful as too many consumed thefts can cause poo problems(personal experience). Eating too many apple seeds and stems can also make your dog sick from what I've been told.

This is true. Apples are a great treat, but the seeds contain small amounts of arsenic. Very bad for smaller animals like guinea pigs and birds. Also, they can make your baby quite sick if she eats enough of them. I feed mine apples, but yes, spoiled babies get them sliced and cored.

Shaylea did that once, but I think she mainly enjoyed it because it was not intended for her. Funnier yet, Buster ate corn on the cob once (again no intended for him). He rolled it over to get all the kernels and everything!

Thats funny. My mom has an apple tree and her 2 chihuahuas are always running around with apples in their mouth. I don't think they eat them, they just carry them around like toys.

Great story! My cocker spaniel used to pick up the apples that fell from the trees in the back yard and eat around the core and leave the core for me to pick up. He would take a bite holding with one foot, and turn with the other. I haven't seen it with another dog. He was VERY picky about not eating the seeds and the core. :)

my son eats an apple at bedtime every day and thor just sits there waiting for the core. He just loves them. I told my son about the arsenic when he first started giving them to Thor so he picks them out as best he can.
