Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it. We had a death in the family and I have a wake to attend early Saturday afternoon.

I'm going to try to get my boy out there quite early that morning.
Probally around 8:30-9am. If anyones an ealry riser, feel free to come meet me.

Hope that everyone still gets together !

Naperville...

I have been told by my sister who lives in Bolingbrook that the Naperville park isn't fully fenced. Does anyone know if this is true?

Your sister is correct... no fences, however it has a nautral wooded fence line. There is along path you have to take to walk back into the common area. I've never seen a dog bolt away. They are usually too happy playing with others and or walking along the path or grassy meadow area with their owners.

That's too bad....

I'm sure that most dogs don't take off, but I have two six month old puppies and a 1 year old and they see other dogs all the time. Because of this, I don't trust that they would stay where they are supposed to stay.

I think I'll sit this one out.

Is anyone ever interested in hitting a city park? There is a beautiful park just off Lakeshore Drive that has a "doggie water fountain" that is about a foot off the ground. It's a good size park for the city and is mostly concrete (which works out great for their nails). If anyone is interested let me know.

City Parks

The city park does sound nice, but the concrete is very tough on a young puppies bones and joints. Too much exercise on hard surfaces can damage their growth plates. The plates continue to grow until they are 18 months old. The park in Oakbrook is fenced in.

DanTij,

If you are worried, it is certainly your choice not to attend. I live in the city and the only surface that they ever walk/play on is concrete (due to a lack of any other choice). Oakbrook is nice but it's a bit far for us city dwellers (given the traffice on the Highway).

But, thanks for the info.

What's happenin' in IL?

Did it happen? Did the Devil Boy miss the action? He was so excited to meet everyone in Oak Brook, he had so much fun. And, it was great to meet all Boxer parents in the area :p

We're up for almost any weekend...we don't mind the drive out to the 'burbs for crazy fun that really tires the pup out. Let me know, please!!!

June 29th, Did anyone go????

Shillelagh And T.G. missed the 29th. I didn't get a response back from anyone regarding the bash, so I figured it was cancelled. We're looking forward to the next bash, just pick the park. I'm open just about any weekend. We're from the south suburbs, so any park is a good park for us. Shall we try a city park? Maybe we'll get a better turnout.

A city park's fine with me. I'm not nuts about concrete, but D. just loves the water. Karen, any ideas of a good time to go--we should avoid things like Venetian Night, I imagine, when the lakefront will be nuts. Unless someone wants to invite us out for a little boat ride afterward...
