If that is mange I would think it is not a very aggressive form. My boxer had places like that and was completely covered in mange the next day! We payed $250 for treatments. When he had his first reoccurrance he swelled so badly that he could not eat. We opted to have him put to sleep instead of letting him suffer horribly for the second time. I had a chinese pug when I was a girl that had a less aggressive form. He took a daily pill. Back then(1980's) it cost about $30 for a month supply. It was well worth the price! He only had occasional outbreaks and lived to be 8 years old.
