If you already have a female, why can't you rescue another female?

I talked with my rescue about this issue seeing as how i have 2 females, both rescued. they said the same thing, they will usually not rescue out to another home with a female. male/ male and male/female are usually okay but the female/female aspect can get pretty ugly.
the reason i was different was because of Subi and Bailey's personality, i am an alpha and will not tolerate them trying to establish it, they know there place, i have dog experience and if something happens i know what to do re:fights. the majority of people though that rescue do not know these things and do not establish themselves as alpha.
i can say though, a female/female fight is UGLY!!! i had to break up two female boxers and i dont EVER want to do that again.

on two females

Heather, I agree with you. It is possible in some cases.
I recently followed a thread regarding the ACD breed.
My son has a young female. It stated flat out that at
maturity two females will absolutely fight to the death
if left alone. I forwarded those on to a breeder I met.
She said it was possible but not in all cases. We sometimes
keep that little Australian Cattle Dog for our son. She loves
to run and play with all our Boxers. She tends to be a
little nippy during these sessions. At our house my husband
sets the order starting with his alpha position. It's nice
to share experience regarding this subject. We currently
have four males...one female
Bart shep Male mix age 13 been with us since a pup
Beau Male brindle Boxer rescue age 3
Lucky Male white Boxer rescue age 2 1/2
Penny Female dark brindle shelter rescue 3
Tundra Male White Merlequin Great Dane 6 months
