ok here's a question for ya'll...

do your boxers have the same fascination with ice like mine do? my fawn girl lucy...LOVES ice cubes. i mean it's kindof nuts...she can be completely asleep, in another room and if someone goes into the frezer and accidently drops a piece of ice...she is there in like 2 seconds! when she was a puppy she LOVED to play with it in the kitchen, pushing it all over the place...but now, it's strictly "business"...eating it all!

chomping away...and in the morning when we get ready to put the furbabies in thier kennels for the day ( to go to work) i put some water in thier water bowls and then a bunch of ice cubes
(this a good way for us to keep water fresh, cold, and IN the babies bowls...especially since casey (our boy) LOVES to push his water bowl around after we leave and spill it all over his crate...getting his bed all wet! the ice?...it melts slow so the water doesn't just spill all over...they have water pretty much all day that way, there is always water left when we come home)

anyways...i can't even put it down in her crate until it's time to go...or she eats ALL the ice! anyone else encounter this situation...AND is it bad for thier teeth? if so what about all the OTHER stuff she chews (like eveything), for instance a "galileo bone" does anyone else have one of those? and what are your thoughts on that? ACTUALLY i want to also ask about chewing (maybe borderline destructive?) does anyone have suggestions on a dog (my lucy) that chews everything? what "Tough" (Extra tough) toys do you use? and is there anything to deter her from say...the couch cushions?:mad:

Trinity loves ice! Not only ice cubes but the ice outside! It snowed a lot here a few weeks ago, it melted, then it got cold again and it froze, so she is in her glory! She runs on the ice and slides down the slidewalk, it's hilarious! There are ice balls all over and she's constantly whacking them with her paws and chasing after them. Who would have though winter would have been so much fun! :p

Yes, yes and yes! My Giguere does the same thing. Wherever he is, if he hears the ice machine on the fridge going, he's right there.
He loves ice! I've heard it's bad for people to chew, but I think dog's teeth are stronger than ours so it may be okay. Not sure.
Not sure if it's a boxer trait - the ice thing, but I've heard of other dogs that also go nuts for ice. Also, my puppy Giguere (8 mos) loves to play in his water bowl too. Makes quite the mess. I had
to change to a ceramic bowl because I had a large Stainless Steel bowl and he would dump all the water out playing. Then the dogs would have no water for the rest of the day I was at work. Crazy dog!

yeah Brando loves ice - and now he knows that it's in the freezer, as soon as we go in to get some food out - he's right there trying to get some out.

he crunches it really loudly though! uurgghh - it makes me cringe!

Omar loves ice cubes too. Magnum does to a certain point - he'll chew an ice cube up, but leave part of it all over the floor for me to step in once it's melted. Magnum will also bob for ice cubes in his water bowl.

Yes! Our Gable love ice too! When you first give it to him, he'll play with it like it is a toy...pushing it across the floor, chasing it and then pawing at it. Once he gets it in a corner, he'll lay down and chomp till its gone! It's a great treat...except for when I step in little puddles on the kitchen floor!

Angel is the same way loves any type of ice and adores snow outside too! In fact it's really funny to throw a snowball because she tries to catch it and ends up eating it! She sticks her face right in the snow! But she also goes for the icecube trick so we also have to be careful not to drop one or it will be melting in the middle of the living room floor!

P.S.
We use the kong since as of yet it has been indestructable
everytime Angel or Frank tried to chew on something that was a "no-no" we'd tell them no and them give them the kong instead. Worked for us as they never chew on anything but their toys now.

Basil loves ice, which is kind of nice. She thinks that she is getting a treat! And it's free:p

Boo love ice cube cookies (and they're not fattening-yay). Now Skye loves them too but he's too small to eat them. So, Boo grabs one and bites it in half and Skye gets those. Then Boo gets her own full size one.lovicon

LOL! Bella loves ice too, not that much that she would wake up for it!! But she is a BIG fan of it! She will lick it as much as she can and really seems to enjoy it!

Bella always comes running though when she hears the fridge-freezer open!
