Boxer Pal
My sister has a female boxer that is 16 months old. She is on the very tall side of female breed standards and extremely skinny. The dog is not underfeed by no means. Eats three full meals a day. I have a 1 yr female and she is extremely built, muscular and athletic: natuarlly. And I feed her once a day (Natural Balance w/ Missing Link Plus) and both dogs are on the exact same diet. She makes frequent checkups visits to the vet and he says shes is thin but o.k. Well today I heard she has tapeworms. She was given proper med. I guess and it will be o.k. Now to my point. I want to badly find some secret, heathly, fatty way to put meat on the boxer skeleton. Please help. I searched threads on this topic for an hour and found no help.

Try Satin Balls

I've seen a recipe on here for Satin Balls. It's supposed to help put weight on a dog quickly, I'm getting ready to use it on my rescue Buster.

Satin Balls Half Recipe -- recommended amount to mix up

5 lbs cheap hamburger (for high fat %)
1/2 large box Total cereal (about 6 cups cereal)
1/2 large box uncooked oatmeal (about 7.5 cups oats)
5 raw eggs
1/2 of 15oz jar wheat germ (about 2 cups)
5 packages Knox unflavored gelatin
5/8 cup vegetable oil (this is pretty close to 2/3 cup)
5/8 cup unsulphered molasses
pinch of salt

The half recipe, using hamburger that is 20% fat calories, has 12,400 calories. The last batch I made ended up making 22 patties, so each has about 560 calories. I have big dogs (Danes) so if your dog is smaller you might want to make your Satin Balls or patties smaller.

I find that making the half recipe is so much easier that it is worth doing even though you have half-boxes of things around for awhile and have to mix it up twice as often. The disadvantage of the full recipe is the need of a really BIG container and it is very hard work to mix it all up.

It is very typical for a 16 month old boxer to be skinny. It really is nothing to worry about. She will fill out as she matures. If the vet says that she is okay, I would believe him.
