For me, it was a no brainer.. another boxer! If I had my way I would have one more..in fact I am trying to locate a breeder now. I have two boxers and a dalmation. My Dal is older (age unknown for sure- she was a rescue- guessing about 9) but she gets along pretty good with Tia 6 months and with Sonny who is 7 years. (The later are both boxers) The neighbors have a mixed breed, I am not even going to attempt to guess which breeds, but anyway, my boxers get along great with him. They have both snuck under the fence to play a time or two and he has come to visit them too. I guess it just depends on what you are into. If you are serious about the malimute, take your boxer with you and introduce them before bringing him home, see how they react to each other, it may help you make a decision.

Good Luck!

and GO BOXERS!!!:D

I'm no expert either and maybe some with more experience can help but In my years of research before we got our boxer we read that they get along with pretty much any breed. If done correctly you should have no problems.

Aragon`s best friend is my friend`s german shepard / husky mix!! They simply just love playing together!
He is about 1 1/2 , and my boy`s 4 months and one week.

I was a little bit nervous about the first meeting, because the husky was so big compared to Aragon, but it went great!

And I think one of the reasons why he loves playing with him, is that this is the first dog he`s met, that plays the same way he plays; ROUGH!! lol...

Zoe is a Husky mix and she and Zack get along wonderfully. They are actually a little too attached to each other, if that's possible. Zack plays with huskys at the dog park and likes them. I think the biggest thing is just getting the other (non boxer) dog comfortable with the way boxers play. There are a lot of boxers that go to the dog park so most of the dogs that are regulars there are used to it, but when a new dog comes in sometimes they are a bit wierded out by all the boxing. Some dogs just seem to need some time to understand the boxer's body language. I personally don't think there is any one breed that doesn't get along with boxers, but that's just from what I've seen at the dog park. I think it's more on an individual, dog-to-dog basis.

Zoe is extremely laid back (much more that Zack) but does like to play rough. I can't say how she compares to a full husky, as she's just a mix, but the huskys at the dog park all play pretty rough also. Not at all aggressive, just rough. I like huskys but be ready to do a ton of grooming, especially since you're used to a boxer!

I own two siberian huskies[1male/1female]along with 1 female boxer...I got the boxer when my huskies were 2&3 years of age...They all get along together great....They have all had their little spats but no more than any other three full grown dogs sharing the same space together have...It's never been a husky vs boxer thing...Just every now and then one of them get a little moody...Both breeds are great to own but like stated earlier they have very different needs....

Completely Boxer Crazy
When we decided to get another dog, we really thought about whether or not we wanted another Boxer. The problem is that Boxer's play like no other breed. The other dog has to be REALLY tolerant to play with Boo, otherwise they end up getting aggressive with her. I guess it's not fun to get punched up side the head by her paws.smashicon

Let me tell you, its true. Two Boxers are really easier than one.

Thanks for all the input. One more question: Would 2 boxers, separated at birth by at least 1.5 years be combustible together, or the perfect ages?

We have three boxers, the first two are rescues. Sassy and Lincoln get along great, and the vet said that they were most likely about a year or so apart. Then we added Scamp to the mixture when he was 8 weeks old. I was worried at first that the big dogs might hurt him, but Sassy took him under her wing as if she were his mother. Lincoln could have really cared less about him, until Scamp got some size on him and could play with him.

The three of them are so wonderful together, I couldn't imagine having any other breed but a boxer!! :) Good luck with your decision.

New baby

We just got our new baby yesterday, a 8 week female fawn. We already have Sherbert(male 6 years old). We talked about it for a long time but never did it. A friend of ours surprised us with our new baby Sunny. The two of them get along great, Sherb took over like a big brother.

If you are planning on getting a puppy I wouldn't be too worried about the breed in general. Puppies (the younger the better) don't pose much of a threat to adult dogs as they still allow the adult dog to be "master of the house". We just got through introducing my boxer puppy to my aunt's two full-grown mixed breeds (one of which can be very temperamental). Since she's just a puppy and submitted to both the adults right away there were no problems. I wouldn't worry about your boxer getting along with another dog (especially if it's a puppy) because as a general rule boxers are fairly tolerant, friendly dogs (although that rule is certainly not set in stone!). However, if you are planning on getting an older husky or malamute I would worry more about the new dog than your boxer. Huskies and malamutes tend to be a little more temperamental and not as social as boxers when it comes to other dogs. This is, however, only an observation from when I was working in kennels with ALL kinds of different dogs. But if you do the introductions slowly and properly and allow them both time to adjust you really shouldn't have any concerns about them coexisting.
