Semmi was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma back in November after a small tumor erupted into a huge monster and inflamed her leg. The tumor was removed and it now healed. We opted to forgo chemo and all that due to her age, health, and suggestion of our vet that it would only give us another month or so with her. Since then, she has been quite comfortable and happy.

She has had an old tumor start reappearing in the last two weeks on the same leg, and last night , during our regular two week 'roll over and let me check your belly fun', I found a MASSIVE tumor in her breast tissue near the groin area. It's probably the size of a softball and hard.

Semmi is overweight to begin with, between thyroid and inability to exercise much due to the surgeries, she's always been a heavy girl. Plus, she had puppies many many years ago, and has some 'flappy' breast parts. You would never see this tumor unless you were looking for it. Even though I know it is there now, I still can't see it.

I feel so bad that we didn't catch this, but I think this is it for our girl. She is having problems going potty (started yesterday)...she is not resting well at night...she had her first seizure on us New Years night at 4am...

We go in to our vet Saturday at 8am. I just wish she would give us a sign that it is time...but she is pert and chipper right now. I just don't want to wait until she is miserable, but it looks like thinigs are starting to move downhill on us.

Just thought I would update...its been a while since I have been on here.

Osteosarcoma is nasty.. My sisters rott was diagnosed with it.. Because of the nature of how quickly spreading it is out vet told her that it was already in her lungs.. that dogs are so stoic they dont show any signs until it has usually progressed to another part of the body..usually the lungs.. Molly was treated with pain meds and managed quite well for a few months. About 2 months into it though her breathing became more labored and she would cough quite often..it usually contained blood in it. After one particularly restless night my sister made an appoinment for her to be rechecked after work.. She too was struggling with Molly to show her that she was ready to pass.. Molly never dropped her kind loving ways and was always happy and greeting at the door.. That evening when she arrived home from work to take Molly for her check up.. Molly's leg was broken where the tumor was.. It had finally consumed the bone and her breathing was more labored and coughing was more frequent.. They confirmed with the doctor that Molly's time had come..

Keep your appointment for Saturday.. Take it just one day at a time.. She could have just a few days left that are really good.. or it may be weeks left. Sending my prayers to be with you during this difficult time..

Thanks for the support you guys!

I had figured it would be around the first of the year when we got the diagnosis, but she's been plugging happily along...but the past few days have been interesting to say the least.

No counting the seizure, she seems confused sometimes, she is drinking a lot more water, and tires out a lot faster, she's so restless at night, and going potty is difficult for her. She's still so happy with that big Boxer grin, that it breaks my heart.

We'll see what the vet says on Saturday...hubby wanted me to wait until he gets home (he's on military duty right now), so I pushed the appointment so that he can be here. This dog is his baby girl!
