Okay, Molly is a 6 1/2 year old boxer. My hubby was free feeding her Ol'Roy wet and dry food throughout the day. She was diagnosed around Christmas time with Bad hip dysplasia, ACL problems and arthritis and she weighed 85 pounds. Thanks to the greatdanelady and boxerworld we started her on a quality dog food feeding regimen, 1 cup of dry eagle pack holistic kibble twice a day mixed with about 2 heaping tablespoons of eagle pack holistic wet food. Molly now weighs 74 pounds and also takes Zeel for her osteoarthritis. Her coat is shiny and soft and we even converted a few of our dog owner friends to trying higher quality dog foods instead of mass produced products. Now that we understand the importance of feeding her quality dog food do you think we should increase of food intake or keep her on this specific diet. Can we try Fromm , Merrick or Solid Gold, which our brand new local mom and pop pet shop stocks? Thanks, Adele

You can certainly change foods, just make sure it is gradual. The amount of food actually sounds about right. I do believe a dog is considered senior at 7 years and normally - depending on activity you would decrease their food intake. I have a 10 year old (not a boxer) that is approx. 70-75 lbs and I feed him 2 cups of kibble a day and about 1/4 cup of wet. Basically you should mainly go by the guidelines on the food bag.
Check out the dog food analysis web site to decide which one you want to go with.
Hope Molly is feeling better.

thanks for your reply, I feel sometimes that i'm not feeding her enough. but i was happy to hear that you feel 2 cups of kibble and some wet food is enough. Molly is doing ok...her back legs are very stiff. Its really ashame since just several months ago she could chase after squirrels and such. thanks for your reply, adele

It sounds like she is doing good on the food she's on. Why ruin a good thing? I would leave her on the food she's on if she's doing ok....Just my opinion. ;)
