I need to carry a sign on my walks.

I think I need to start carrying a sign w/me when I walk my two pups. This afternoon I got three comments/questions about my dogs being pitbulls. I can understand people making that mistake when they see my 5 month old puppy Isis because she is still small and is all white w/a small black patch around her eye but, Zeus I dont understand how people can think that. Zeus is a huge boxer. He is 26 inches tall and 100lbs. I just dont see how people can assume he is a pitbull. I dont mind people stopping and asking questions and talking about my dogs ( I love talking about my dogs) but I am so tired of people saying "wow, thats a huge pit" or "Is that a pitbull?" and little kids saying rude comments about my dogs. One kid this afternoon said, "Oh look there are two ugly looking pitbulls." I think I should just carry a huge neon sign that says, "They are boxers! Not pitbulls!"

Its all too common and I just stopped caring when people ask if Ramos is a pitbull. At least a child was a bit closer on Halloween when I opened the door and Ramos was there too and the girl exclaimed "Wow what a beautiful baby Great Dane". At lest she was closer . Many people are just ignorant to dog breeds and they see the colors, especially the brindles and whites and assume pitbull. By the way, what's that saying when someone assumes something? Don't let it bother you because, unfortunately, it will continue, besides I'd be more worried about the people stalking you knowing what kind of dog you have..wait that would be boxer nuts like all of us!

Oh boy, do we know how you feel!!

It aggravates me, as well, when people tell me they are afraid of Pit Bulls and thats why they won't pay any attention to Asia. I've gotten to where I correct them and just laugh ... they are the ones missing out on a great friend :D

Jazz' brindle color gets a lot of "is that a pitbull?" questions...I keep meaning to print off a photo of a pit's face and have that on me, whip it out and say "See the face? Different eyes, different nose" etc.

When we are out walking, a lot of times (non-dog) people will cross to the other side of the street! Jazz is a little TINY boxer too, and friendly, so what gives?

On ebay they had dog shirts that said the dogs breed across the back, maybe you should get one, or make one.

LOL... I felt like that before Jake passed away. I used to live in Jamaica and when I took him for walks people would ask how comes my 'rottweiler' is white or where did i buy my pitbull. Then there were the who used to be sooo rude and try to tell ME that Jake wasn't a boxer! Boxers aren't common in Ja.

Yep, that should do it. Maybe you can have one with a picture on it too and says "Boxer Lover." I've seen many threads where their boxers were mistaken for pits. I've got to say that has never happen to me. I guess I was ignorate to the issue.

I have yet to have someone mistake Rox for a pit bull, but I am sure our day is coming.... I try to be understanding, I don't know my cars, one from the other and it makes my husband crack up, Jeep from a Ford etc.... So, I have to guess that there are people that don't really know their dog breeds :confused:......poodles from pit bulls? I was sitting in front of the grocery store with both of my 'furbabies' in the back seat looking out the window and a group of teenagers started saying aahhhh look at the cute boxer and the cute poodle!! HELLO>> Trooper is a TIBETAN TERRIER thank you very much!
No one would ever guess that breed though......poor Troop..he was kinda offended I think.....

You should design shirts with stencils/paint for the dogs that says "I'm a boxer", or something like "love a boxer", and see if the ppl are smart enough to read and remember it for the next time. If all else fails try the sign and let us know how it goes.
