I will be doing that to some extent, but being a college student and having to do countless research papers, it is pounded into our heads not to do that. It would make things so much easier but it will be hard to 'break the rules'

Don't have the backup data, but one thing that I learned here that I had never known before is to let the pup stay with its mom and siblings until at least eight weeks old. I had always heard that they need to be with Mom until six weeks (just until weaned).

Dog bite prevention and socialization!

People need to know that every dog has teeth and any dog can bite, regardless of breed or size. They need to understand what makes a dog bite and how to avoid it. And of course, if they understood the benefits of proper socialization there would be less dog bites.

The human society has a section on dog bite prevention you could probably use.

One thing that helped me decide on breed... There was a quiz I took (don't remember the website... I think I found it thru google) about the best breed for your family. I *thought* I wanted a jack russell terrier... ACK!! Way way too hyper for my family. (me, in particular) Dogs are all so different even within breeds, but we all know that certain breeds have certain characteristics. Our Sweet Pea (boxer) and Cadence (pitt and mastiff) are perfect for us!!

Also, you *might* want to include THIS website. It's been invaluable to me for all kinds of pet information, not just boxer info!!

Time and Money are important to me. My neighbours have dogs that they tie out all day and she dosen't even work all the dogs do is bark at everything all day they are not socialized at all. Why have a pet if you are not spending time with them. Money well they cost alot Heartworm, Advantage Shots not to mention if they get sick.

Thanks for all the great ideas! I am going to have a hard time picking the ones to elaborate on. I would love to elaborate on all of it but I have to keep this thing to a realistic size. I am worried about making it interesting enough to get people to read through the whole thing. The main audience will be college students. To me, something like this would be interested and I would take the time to read it but the ones who really need to learn more probably won't want to take the time to read it. Any ideas on how to be more appealing? I am thinking about putting some pictures in it but it has to be something that would look ok in black and white.

Thanks for all the links too. I was looking at the bestfriends.org one yesterday and was in awe at the story about them taking a cargo plane to rescue 300 animals from the war zone, that literally made my day.
