Thanks. You are right. I don't know if she has ever been to obedience training since she is a rescue, but hopefully that will do the trick. It will be worth the investment.

She really is such a sweet and loving dog. She is so affectionate and really quite perfect. Hopefully we can get this worked out so everyone else will be able to see that, too.

Thanks for the advice. :)

I have the exact same problem and am working on it right now. My dog Roxxi was well socialized as a puppy and has been in obedience training. I also take her to dog parks all the time. She just started doing the same thing that you described. She is very playful, but at times if a dog stares her down, she will attack.
The first thing I did was ask my vet what I could do. She gave me a number for a behavior therapist for dogs and they told me to read this book called "Dogs are from Neptune". If that doesn't work they said I can take her in for a consultation. Right now I'm waiting for the book to come to my library and after reading this book, I will try another obedience training class. If that doesn't work, I will take her in to the behavior therapist.
Someone posted earlier that this is normal dog behavior, but I definetly disagree. If two dogs stare eye to eye, it shouldn't always end in a fight.
