Boxer Pal
Hi All,
I Am Having Some Problems With Bruiser. He Is 3 1/2 Months Old.he Has Loose Stools, But It Is Not All The Time, Just Most Of The Time. I Have Him On Chicken Soup Adult Formula Dog Food. I Stopped Feeding Him Treats Thinking That Is What Was Doing It But It Didn't Work. I Know That He Doesn't Have Worms Or Anything Cause He Has Been Dewormed And Checked Out By The Vet. He Also, Is Having What I Consider Another Problem That I Can't Figure Out. He Seems To Know Where To Go Potty At, But He Will Go To The Back Door And Pee And Poop. Even If I Am Standing In The Kitchen Doing Something Were The Back Door Is. This Is Not Good Cause This Loose Stools And Peeing In The House Is Causing Problems With The Parents. So I Have To Come Up With The Quickest Way To Get To The Bottom Of This. I Don't Know If It Is The Dog Food That Is Doing It, But That Is Why I Switched To Chicken Soup Cause It Is What Everyone Suggested. If You Guys Would Please Help Me It Would Be Greatly Appreciated. Thanks For All Your Help!!!

Chicken Soup is a good food, but not all foods agree with all dogs. Sometimes it's trial and error, do a search on kibble and you'll come up with all sorts of other good quality foods. Remember what is good for one may not always be good for another!

Try giving your puppy a little caned pumpkin. Some dogs have alergies to chicken & some dog food caned & dry have chicken by-productsin them
I have four dogs 2- which are not Boxers that can not eat chicken &
Jake our Boxer that can not eat it. Our vet had suggested the pumpkin
Jake won't it it by it's self so I mix it in with his food.
When he was a puppy I would just take him out about every hour for the first week or two & right after he ate tell him to go potty & praise him when him went.

Yes, I'd give him a little canned pumpkin (plain, not pie filling - and just a tablespoon or so) to firm him up a bit in the meantime. If the loose stools continue, you could put him on a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice.

Now, if I understand correctly, you had him on some puppy food and switched to chicken soup brand because of loose stools, but the loose stools have continued - correct? I can't find in your previous posts what food he was on before that though, or if it was the same food his breeder had him on.

Since both Chicken Soup and his previous food have given him runny stool, it would be useful to know what the previous food was so we can perhaps try to figure out what it is that isn't agreeing with him and suggest some suitable alternatives. Craz4herkie is right, not all foods suit all dogs and it is a little bit of a trial and error thing to find a food, or a few foods, that suit your dog.

With all that said, it's not going to do his system a whole lot of good to be constantly switching foods. I'd personally try the pumpkin, and the chicken/rice diet too for a few days, then try re-introducing the chicken soup. If it still gives him runny stool, then looking at an alternative food is probably a good idea.
