Rocky woke up yesterday morning fine. He ate breakfast and went to the bathroom and was his active self. Then around mid morning he went upstairs & laid down on my bed. I thought he was just tired and wanted a nap. I went back downstairs & kept going back to check on him I started to worry because usually he will follow me around & he wasn't budging even when I called him. I then went & got one of his favorite bisquits & still he wasn't interested. That's when I got on the phone & called the vet. I was pretty upset they told me to bring him in & leave him they didn't have any open appts. I said what do you mean leave him he needs to be looked at right away. They said they would. So I called my daughter to pick me up & drive us to the vets office (my husband had my car). By the time she got there he was still just laying there & looking up at me. I just kept laying with him and talking to him while cried my eyes out. I carried him to the car & off we went. By the time we got to the vets office he was walking on his own & seemed much better. We waited about an hour because I refused to leave him. They took him in and came back & said he was fine they couldn't find anything wrong he had no fever & was walking around fine. They told me to take him back home & keep a close watch on him. He seems fine today back to his old self. I'm not sure what happened but it really scared me. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes this has happened before with Angel. Actually a couple times. But she often has an attitude about it! Usually you can call her and off she runs but every so often she's like "Yeah right, I am taking a break." There does not appear to be anything wrong with her. Maybe he was just having a lazy episode or one of his legs were asleep? Give him a great big hug for Angel and I :)

Yes this had happend with Avra:( I had opened a very strong depurant(spell?) with a double top.
When i opened it, i took the top with a bottle and i left the other top on the table of the kitchen and after a while i found Avra to be sick and the top of the bottle on the floor ....and it wasn't chewed..she had just licked it.....and imagine that this top it was the cover of the regular top and didn't come into contact with the liquid of the bottle:( !!!!
I called the vet and he told me that after an hour she will be fine and she was:D indded!

Hope Rocky is feeling better today :)

Thanks for the replies. Rocky is doing fine now back to his fiesty self. I'm not sure what happened but it sure scared me. The vet thought maybe he had a seizure but didn't think so. He was favoring his one leg at the vets so they gave him a shot of cortisone. Hopefully nothing like that happens again. He scared his Mommy real bad.

Have more tests done

I would have more tests done. I don't want to scare you, but I had a similar thing happen where she was fine one minute, then just lay down and wouldn't get up. I took her to the emergency room, they did some tests, couldn't find anything wrong. For the next month, she would be fine one day then she would sleep and not get up another. I finally couldn't take it anymore and took her to the heart dr. to figure out what the problem was. He suggested doing a complete blood work-up before checking out her heart and found that her liver counts and several other counts were way off. They thought that maybe it was pancreatitis, but before I could get her to the vet (the same day I got the test results) she collapsed again. I rushed her to emergency again and after an ultra sound, they discovered she had bleeding growths on her spleen. The internal bleeding is what was causing the weakness. She was almost 11 and had never had a sick day in her life up until a month ago. The reason she would be fine one day and bad the next is that the growths would bleed, then heal, bleed, and then heal. They said that there was a 90% chance the growths were cancer and if that were the case, even with surgery she would only have 3 weeks to 3 months because that type of cancer goes through the entire system so it would show up somewhere else. Needless to say, she had lost about half of her blood when I had to do the inevitable. This has been the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with; she was the love of my life. I'm not telling you this to scare you; I just would do everything you can to get to the root of the problem. I think there is a reason for these episodes; they don't just happen for any reason. Finding out what was wrong wouldn't have changed things in my case, but if you are like me, you feel like you are sitting on a time bomb and you don't know what could happen next. It also gives you time to think about your options. Not knowing is so hard. Good luck to you and Rocky. Keep us posted on your progress.
