I need a good comeback

Our neighbors own a little dog. She is a year old and not fixed. She just finished her second cycle. I asked them if she was going to be spay anytime soon. Their response was that they wanted her to expirence motherhood. She may only have one or two pups when she does have puppies.
I would like to slap these people. This little dog is more like a cat. No offense to cats! But I dont feel either one of these people has a clue as to what all goes into having puppies.
I would like a suggestion of a comeback to use on them when they start in about their toy dog having puppies. I never seem to have the right answer to shoot at them concerning this issue. I am a strong believer in rescue and responsible breeding.

You could ask them if they are willing to risk her life so she can experience "motherhood." Pregnancy isn't always risk-free. Or you could ask them if there is a scarity of those particular type of puppies since the last time you checked, millions of dogs, including purebreds, were being euthanized each year in our country because there weren't enough homes for them.

You could as her... "Isn't it nice when people force the experience of Motherhood on unsuspecting animals, are you going to do that with your daughter too at the same age?" (if she has a daughter).

well.. you can tell her plain and simple- she could die especially since she's smaller. As far as I know smaller dogs have a harder time giving birth..especially Bostons and sometimes need cesarean sections which cost lots of money.

The thread that boxer posted is also good.

If you drop some of the things from that story to them, and they still think they should let her experience motherhood (and theyll probably say thats just one dog out of how many whove had puppies just fine it wont happen to us bla bla) then they dont deserve to own a dog.

Why are there so many stupid, irresponsible pet owners in the world?? Do these ppl not hear about local shelters that have to euthanize WAY too many pets b/c of irresponsible breeding? And kinda on the subject- I am so sick of seeing dogs like "Labra-doodles" and "Golden-doodles" for sale--I mean come on ppl- all you're doing is mixing two breeds to make it sound fancy and jack up the price and make a larger profit for yourself!! Again- stupid stupid people

I suggest these people go to the local shelter and look into the eyes of some of the animals that are being put to sleep who are so desperate to find a home. Her puppies may take cost a homeless dog its life. I volunteer at a shelter and even though they may think elsewise their puppies could end up there right along with the rest of the homeless animals. We had two cute eight week old shitzu puppies turned in by their owner last week. Just another irresponsible breeding taking away from the already small number of cages we have. Shelters eutho. plenty of purebred dogs - even ones with AKC paperwork. As for the mother experiencing puppyhood, does she think the dog really yearns to have puppies?
