He is the smartest most adorable baby in the class. He catches on so fast it is unbelievable. We are doing leave it. He took two times and he had the idea. appicon He is so amazing. Boxers are so smart. I just couldn't wait to come home and share this with all of you. grin2icon I am just so proud of him.

Especially since he hasn't felt the best with this teething thing. :( He has been sleeping tons but when he goes to class he is so excited and so willing to learn to please.

Yay! Way to go for taking him to puppy classes too! What a precious time - I long for those puppy days again!!

And of course he's the smartest most adorable one in the class... he's the boxer! ;)

Be careful!

Remember, boxers get bored very easily, and if you do not keep up on everything you learn, he will CHOOSE to forget everything, and you will be back at square one! Take it from someone who knows...keep practicing! Seems like you got the right idea though. Good luck.

IMO - It's never too late! :) Just make sure the instructor knows the age and size of your pup - they should steer you towards a group really suited for him. The socialisation will be so good for him, no matter what age. And training goes to the "next level" when they are doing it in unfamiliar territory, and around other dogs, so no matter how trained a dog is at home, I would always say Go For It!!

(I've done obedience training with a boxer at 4 who had never had a lick of it yet, and she did great! - they are an awesome breed for always wanting to learn and please.)

Look's like you've got a real sweetie on your hands-- have fun with it ;)

Boxers do get bored. Maxwell does need practice and reinforcement everyday. Otherwise he forgets!! Especially when it is convienent for him.

Maxwell goes to petsmart puppy classes. Maybe they have something like that where you live. They use positive training methods. I would be leary of any trainer that didn't want to discuss their training program. Good luck with your search for Gracie.

Lance has also started his puppy classes and he was the best in class this week too. I just can't get over how smart these lil boxers are. We are also doing leave it, but then they threw in a combination of a regular sit, then a leave it while walking past an object, then a down, a sit with attention, another leave it and end with a down. Well Lance went all through the obstacle course and then looked at me like "what's next mom". ha ha He is the only boxer in his class and just works the "I'm adorable" angle..ha ha but we do practice our butts off all week inbetween as I can see that he would make the choice to do something else if I didn't keep it up.
Glad to hear that Maxwell is enjoying his classes. I hate to brag, but we have just picked the best breed haven't we??????
