WE have lived in our house for a year and in that year the neighbors got a kitten named Chico. The past 2 months or so he has been at my house alot. I noticed that he had worms very bad they went up and down his tail and back legs. He also had an abcess on his back. I have been trying to get ownership of him but my hubby kept saying no. Tonight Chico came over again and I noticed that his abcess had ruptured and matted his fur but he had a severe laceration to his back foot. My hubby told me to talk to the neighbor and if she said yes I could have him and nurse him back to health. So I did. He is now mine. His leg was bleeding so badly we had to take him to the vet tonight. He has a 105 fever an infection in his back from the abcess. and dead skin surrounding his back foot. So they are going to fix all that and neuter him for me also. The neighbor said that Chico was never really his and that he found him in a parking lot and brought him home. He has taken no responsibility whats so ever. Even tho it will cost us quite a bit of money I feel its worth it. Thanks for listening.

The neighbor said that Chico was never really his and that he found him in a parking lot and brought him home

By bringing Chico home with him he was saying in effect that he was his cat and he should have taken responsibility for him.

Chico is a lucky guy that you were his neighbour and that you have taken him on - I'm sure he will reward you with love and purrs tenfold.

Well done

Thanks everyone for your support!!! I brought home Chico today and boy was he a mess. They took out a quarter size amount of dead skin from the abcedd on his back, a half dollar sized amount of dead skin from his rear leg, and the laceration on the bottom of his foot was so deep it infected some of his tendons to his claws so the had to remove a little bit of the tendon. He also is severly anemic and barely weighs 9 pounds. I know that he will get better. I am just gonna continue to love him ...E-collar and all:D Thanks again to everyone for your kind words!!!!!

You did the right thing by helping Chico. Hope your neighbor does not get anymore pets to mistreat. I'm sure your new cat realizes he is safe now. :)
