If anybody has any insight it would be a great help. A friend on mine has a pool and it has been so hot in NY this summer we have been going in daily. The problem is so does my boxer Mojo. While it is great excerise for him and it keeps him cool, he drinks in so much pool water. I know this because the next few hours afetr we leave the pool he pees every ten minutes. While we never let him actually drink the water, when he plays with his frisbee he must swallow water without us noticing.

Does anyone know if chlorine is bad for your dog and if it is what are the effects?

Any input would be great.

I had a pool and simply COULD NOT keep my lab, Duke, out of it! Yes, chlorine is bad for dogs... but "bad" is relative. Chlorine isn't going to kill your dog, but it's not going to give him the dream "show coat" you've always wanted either. When he gets out of the pool for good, rinse him off with fresh water so his skin doesn't get dried out. And as for drinking the pool water, I would try to get him to drink as much fresh water before, during, and after swimming. I finally gave in and let Duke swim, I just tried to take precautions.

Good advice Matt! I was going to post the same question soon. Hammer doesn't have any real interest in our pool yet, but I bet that changes some day!
