I got a jumper

my pooch loves to jump up and try to give me licks when i get home from work, which i enjoy, but at times can be overwhelming and when strangers or visitors come in she goes wild and jumps all over them. I know jumping is common with Boxers, but how can i break this habit??

Yes, I have done pretty much the same thing with Harley. He doesn't jump up too much anymore. Of course he still goes crazy when people come over but tends to stay down. The trick is to not be really tough on him when he does something wrong but rather get him to do something better such as sit and then praise him for it. I still tell him "no" when he gets too excited and jumps up on people. I then make him sit and let the guests pet him and tell him what a good boy he is. The behaviour didn't stop completely but it is dramatically better now.

we got brak to start to sit and shake when peoplecome over he will sit by the door untill the acknowlege him and hold his paw up for a shake..too cute
