Ok this is pretty gross, but will he pee on something twice?

He will continue to pee on it until I take it out and throw it away. He couldn't care less what it smells like or that he has to lay on it. So much for "a dog won't potty where it has to lay". He's completely content with having repeated baths...

Bugger. Does he pee if there is nothing in his crate? Will he even rip things like canvas or nylon? Maybe the plastic tray will help with the sores :)

I think you should definetly go with the behavioral therapist. That post that said to hot glue the carpet down sounded pretty good maybe if he can't get it up he won't chew it, but then you have to consider the peeing issue so if he can't get it up how about you and having to clean it? Maybe you could keep it in there and get a cleaner that you spray and let dry? (Natures Miracle or something) I have that little green machine Bissell puts it out I love it. You put hot water in it and the cleaner and then plug it into the wall it sprays and then sucks up the soiled areas, like a mini steam cleaner you might want to try getting that and you can use it for other things too.

No, he doesn't pee if there isn't anything in there. He will rip up ANYTHING that's in there :(

So if he does not pee with nothing in the crate that is what he gets I would say its that simple and maybe the plastic will help with the rubbing issue. I think he needs to earn a bedding for his crate like if he is ok for a while then you can try to introduce something for him if he soils it he no longer gets it till he gets the message maybe.

Ali has slight seperation anxiety too and he would pee on anything I put in his crate so he sleeps on the plastic and seems fine. So I would get a plastic crate and not put anything in it. Also as far as the kong goes, he doesn't really like it except to get the treat out so I would consider a nylabone or something else for him to chew on that's safe. I've also found that he has better days when I take him for a walk before putting him in there. That way he doesn't have too much extra energy. Also some days I play classical music on low and that also helps a little...though it may only be helping me. Just some ideas!
