Had her spayed, but God I wish I hadn't ...

Well, I followed just about everyone's advice. She was getting better, but we kept monitoring her levels on a regular basis. In December, they started rising again, after being 100% normal by the end of November. My vet also thought the best thing would be to spay her at once, to avoid one more heat. Unfortunately, I was right, I'm afraid. She came home, but never quite recovered fully from surgery. Her weight never returned to normal, neither did her levels, which we kept monitoring. On the second week of February, she went into a renal failure from which she could no longer recover. So, I had to decide to put her to sleep on February, the 13th. As you may recall, I already feared the effect of the surgery on the kidneys and that was one of the main reasons why I had doubts about spaying her. I wish I had stuck to my feelings, maybe she could stil be around ...

I am sorry for your loss, but don't blame yourself. . . . . at least you tried, if she would have gone into heat again it probably would have made her sick again and she more than likely would still have passed away so don't think about it as you did something bad because you didn't, you tried to save her.

Poor girl! I bet you miss her severely! I'm sure she'll be waiting at the rainbow bridge for you full of her wiggles and kisses!

I'm really sorry for your loss but it wasn't your fault in any way at all. did the vet ever find out in the end what was causing the problems in the first place?
