We got falko a bed when he was about 6 months old, mistake #1.
He ignored it for a few days, we fed him treats on it and we would lay with him on it so he knew it was a nice sleeping place for him.. BUT, he decided it would make a much better piddle pad so he pee'd on it. After washing and spraying to get it back to original condition, he must have decided that was now his potty spot because then he started pooping on it. That nice $60 bed found it's way to the garbage.

So the other night I got my JoeBoxer a dog bed. They were on sale at Petsmart. 49.99. I bring the new bed home to my 8mo. old boxer. He sniffs, he bats at it. Then he humps it....for a while....despite us shooing him off it. Then, the next day, he ignores it for about a week.

Yesterday, my wife and I tried something new. Instead of crating the dog all day, we gated up the kitchen and left our Joe in there. DAy one, no problem. Day two, however, we came home and found the bed ripped to shreds. Cedar chips, balls of fluff, bits of cloth and a slobber covered zipper covered the kitchen floor.

I just can't win.

Check out Kuranda beds, they are supposed to be chew proof.

ROFL Im sorry You are so funny the way you describe all this !!!!How old is Joe ?

Joe is a 8 mo. old one-dog wrecking crew. I do normally have him in a crate, but we wanted to try getting him out of there in the afternoon. We don't like having him in there all day. That is surpassed however, buy the fact that I like my walls intact more.

Maybe he's just trying to tell us that we need to remodel.....

I think Boxers are like babies they need the crate or crib LOL till they are 18 months or so .....My grandaughter had to stay in the crib till she was two, everytime I let her sleep in the big bed she woke up first , and drew on the walls HMMM You guys make me smile everytime I drop by !!!!!

We have had Jesse for only 3 weeks now, and I just called her Prev. owners to tell them, "I have not crated Jesse ONE time.. she is just PERFECT!, She doesn't chew anything, hasn't gotten into anything, I even took her crate down and took it to the garage!"... they laughed... I wondered why?

About 3 days ago, I ran out for (((((30)))))) minutes... yes 30... the first time she has been left alone.. and came home to no blinds in my loving room..

So thats why I need the crate!!!

Haven't left her home alone yet again.. but, even if it will only be for 5 minutes.. she will be in that crate... :(
