You guys are all so sweet and supportive - that's why I love BW!!! To answer a couple questions - 1.)Tucker has no medical problems at all. Keeping the dog for 2 nights, 3 days was policy. 2.)The cat had gotten out, and met the german shepard next door. The cat needed surgery to sew her leg back up. The following day I awoke to find she had removed a couple of the stitches. I thought they would just fix them, and that would be the end of it, but the said they had to remove all the stitches (there were a lot), and start over, so essentially they charged me for the surgery twice. I am going to call the vet the rescue recommended on Monday, so hopefully they will let me take him home the night of the surgery, if not the next day. Thanks for all of your reassurence - I'll let you know how things go.

I guess I have taken so many fosters in for spays and neuters, I find no concerns at all. Actually, I am so happy for them that they found rescue and will be treated with respect and spayed or neutered.

BUT, I have a vet I trust very much. He would never use ACE, actually he says there are much better, less harsh, shorter affecting drugs that it makes me question a vet that would use it. Also, they wouldn't ask me to leave a dog overnight in an empty place. That would worry me too!

I think it all comes down to finding a vet you can trust. If I were you I would have cancelled too! Find a quality vet, and you'll feel much better.

Good luck. It doesn't have to be an awful experience. I wish you much peace and a quick recovery for Tucker!

Awww... I know how much you must be dreading taking Tucker in for his neuter. We mommies are such worry worts!

I completely agree with you not wanting to leave Tucker there for 2 nights, 3 days. My baby has never been in a crate before either... how traumatic it would be for the dog if that were the situation, especially after having surgery w/o his mommy being around to comfort him. I actually changed Brady's appt. too b/c I didn't want him to spend the night. Things went fine with his surgery - 2 days later and he was back to running around. I'm sure Tucker's will be fine too... good luck & give him kisses from Brady and me!

That just makes you a good mommy. If you second guess it, then it is best not to do it.

Cain has his appointment Tuesday morning. Monday night he is not to have food or water after 8pm. I bring him in about 8am and then he can go home at noon. But I wont be able to pick him up until 4 when I get off work. Unless my hubby can get him. He works nights/sleeps days so sometimes getting him to do those things can be a chore. But my vet is really nice. She is a small clinic, just her and the vet tech. I have been seeing her for about 7 years now, since I moved here. With all my pets and my moms. :)

Your vet should be like your own Doctor. You sould feel comfortable with them and how they do things. If not, you take the time to find the one that does, and things will be much better in the long run.

You followed your instinct and there is nothing wrong with that! While I am sure the vet visit would have gone well I have to wonder if he is sqeezing your wallet. My Rocky also had an undecended testicle (like Jaelle's Igor) and was there and back the same day. This is a serious procedure and unless you feel comfortabloe you should not be forced into going through with it. Good luck and keep us posted.
