Hi Susi, sad to read this. But praying Raine will be just fine. I don't know much about murmurs but lets hope it goes away, she is just a pup. Thought I heard they can disappear. Sending tons of good thoughts to Raine for a long & healthy life.

I Think....

I think your proposal is fair and she gets to be with a family that loves her so much. Miracles do happen, I just had a taste of it and I want to send it on to you now....she will surprise you...watch! :)

Raine is HOME.
She isn't going back to the breeder.
She is with us for a reason. We may not know what that reason is now but in time I am sure we will see it clearly.
Her accidents in the house have been human error....99% of the time hubby has been on watch. He just isn't as in tune to her as I am PLUS I don't like to clean up accidents!
She got me once when I was video taping her. She just literally stopped playing and pee'd and then continued on her merry way.
I've worked her up to about 20 seconds in the crate without so much as a peep but it is slow going. I don't know what her issue is with that but am going to just keep working on it. She managed to scrape up her nose when hubby was "watching" her....he knew not to let her out when she was going crazy in the crate but didn't realize that she was being so insistent with getting out aside from the noises she was making.
She is learning "leave-it" since she isn't leaving the cat alone and thinks the hisses and growls and the occasional head slap are FUN.
I got the water bottle out finally....hated to do it and then felt guilty as I was giving her a quick squirt UNTIL she thought it was hilarious and it sent her into yet another Boxer burn. As with most Boxers....everything is a game to her. She is whining on her bed as I type. Don't know what that is about. LOL
She touched the bell today and went outside and went potty. That was a good thing but I know we are far from being anywhere close to having her actually realize potty training 101.
She has no aversion to being wet or muddy. That is very different for me since Cami would stop on a dime to avoid getting dirty. We had a bit of rain yesterday and she managed to find the only pile of dirt that was available...immediately headed for it, jumped on it and then proceeded to roll around. There was no white left on her and she was content as I shuddered! Then she wouldn't stop trying to get back to it. Having a battle of the minds!!
This coming week we start teaching her that a collar and leash are good things.
Still have not given the breeder our final decision. Trying to figure out what to say other than she is loved and will be loved as long as she is in our lives.

I'd say her name is very appropriate then :D

Love her like you do, worry about the rest if you ever need to. Knowing there may be an issue is more than half the battle. You already have the connections and know what to look for. As others have said, there's no doubt in my mind that Cami picked Raine out for you. Maybe she just wants to make sure you get a happy ending this time.

Ditto! As you have told others, don't worry about the "what if's". It is just wasted energy. I think I would worry about training your hubby on "watching" Raine. :)

Susi, I hope Raine will be just fine. I was devastated when I found out that Sarge has a murmur (especially after losing Buddy last August to a whole myriad of heart problems). The cardiologist who diagnosed Sarge had just finished a Boxer cardiomyopathy study and he told me that of the 80 Boxers involved, 66 or 67 of them had murmurs. I realize that the statistic likely won't make you feel any better about what the future may hold for Raine's health, but it made me realize that a murmur isn't necessarily a death sentence. Nevertheless, I'm glad you've found a new baby to love. She is incredibly lucky to have you.

I am hoping that Raine continues to thrive and lives a long long time...she is lucky to have you & i admire your courage. Enjoy every second!

I just caught this thread. I'm so sorry to hear about her heart murmur. As one who also lost a beloved furbaby to a heart attack I know exactly what you are saying. We do what we have to, even if they are only with us for a short time. I wouldn't have traded any of the years I had with my Roxy for anything. Her murmur wasn't found until about a year before she died. If it had been found as a pup, I still would have kept her and done everything I could to help her. My prayers are with you and your new baby that all is well and works out. By the way, I think your plan with the breeder is more than fair! I remember your stories about Cami, she was a very special girl. :)

She can live a long and GREAT life with a murmur.... keeping my fingers crossed that it just a puppy murmur and she will grow out of it!! She is beautiful and there is no way you couldn't have fallen in love with her on the spot.
