I have just found out my little girl Molly has sub aortic stenosis

she also has mitral valve dysplasia, and the cardilogist has said we could loose her anytime before her 3rd birthday and has started her on beta blockers

It is so hard to take in, she looks so healthy running and jumping about, I don't know how I'm going to get through this

hasanyone else had this?

thank you for replying, my little Molly is only 5 months old, and is so loving and trusting, it is so unfair

My heart is in my mouth every time she runs, but cardiologist says she is a puppy let her run and jump and have fun while she can

all you can do is love love love. let her be a puppy as much as it scares you. it is a very hard thing to do. has your vet said that there is any form of medicine for your baby? has he given any hope to help heal your baby?

I'm so sorry to hear about Molly. It really seems so unfair that these lovable creatures have to go through this sort of thing. I have to say I agree with your cardiologist..let her run..quality of life is what is most important for her now. Cherish her, its Boxer Magic! Sending positive vibes your way. Keep us posted

I am so sorry for what you and Molly are going through. I have a six month old puppy who was diagnosed with dilated cariomyopathy when she was 4 months old, so I know how difficult it is to receive news like this. We were told that dogs with this type of heart condition usually live six months to 2 years, however, we are doing everything in our power to ensure we have Belle for a long, long time. We were told the same thing by our cardiologist, to just let Belle be a puppy and enjoy her life. They told us that Belle would limit her activity herself. For the most part, that is what we do. We have made some concessions to Belle's illness, like I don't put both of our dogs into the back yard at the same time because I know they will run like crazy. I also break up the wrestling matches the dogs have when they get too wild.

We are going through a difficult period right now with Belle. Last week she went to the vet for routine bloodwork and they found a pretty significant arrhythmia. The cardiologist changed her meds, and she had more bloodwork and an EKG on Friday. She still had a significant arrhythmia. Once again they changed her meds, however we ended up back at the vet's today because I was concerned Belle wasn't acting like herself. The arrhythmia is persisting, but the vet thinks we haven't given the meds enough time to work. One of the things I have found is that because Belle is growing so much, it is more difficult to regulate the dosages of her medications. I am saying my prayers that this arrhythmia stops, and that we are once again on an even track. So sorry I have been rambling on....

Remember, be strong for your girl. Do what the doctor tells you, give her meds at the same time everyday, and just love her to pieces.

Please give Molly super sloppy kisses from Doja and I..... and please squeeze her tight, tell her how much you love her and always will. Tell her you love her every day all day. I recently found out that something was wrong with my Doja. You can see previous threads. I took her in to be spayed when she hit 5 months old, she could not be spayed as she has something wrong with her liver. We have been through every test since. They thought she had a shunt, which turned out she didn't. So far, none of the tests were able to pin point what exactly she has. Tomorrow, she goes in for spay and liver biopsy. So by the end of the week, you will see my post with the news. I can't wait to see what is going on with my girl.

What I am trying to say, is, I know how you feel. And what I can say, is, don't waste any time. Spend every moment you can with her, telling her you love her, giving her treats, taking her places she loves. As long as you stay by her side and make her life happy and fulfilling, she will love you eternally for it. Cherish every moment.... snap as many pics as you can. And of course squeeze her so tight she looks at you funny :) Smother her with lots of sloppy boxer kisses from Doja xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Sorry to hear this news. I went through this with my last Boxer. But I didn't know there was a problem until he was about 3. After his first collaspe I did alot of research on the different heart problems. I opted not to put him on meds. He was fine for nearly 2 years then suddenly collasped, doing what he loved to do - playing. He passed very quickly. It was very hard but I found comfort in knowing that he didn't suffer. He didn't know that anything was wrong and lived life to the fullest.

Sending lots of positive vibes and ((((hugs)))).

With everything that I'd learned, I made sure to work with a responsible breeder when buying my next puppy. Don't want to go through that again.
