Boxer Pal
We have a 15 week old white female boxer. She is doing very good potty training, BUT she has me stumped!! We gate off the kitchen and she is in there with me if I am cooking, cleaning up etc. She will sit by the basement door if she needs to go out and look at me until I take her out. No more accidents in the kitchen. I take her downstairs and out the basement door. If she has just been outside and went to the bathroom we will let her in the the living room with us and the other dogs. If she is not gated in the kitchen she will not give us any signal that she needs to go outside. The other night she just peed right in front of us in the living room. I know she is getting the whole go outside thing, but if she is free in the house ( under our supervision of course) she won't go by a door. Any suggestions?

sounds as if she needs to be taught to give a signal. being in the kitchen and being allowed free roam of the living room are two seperate locations and situations as far as your dog is concerned. they might not fully comprehend that she needs to give the same signal from different situations.

and at 15 weeks old, she is way too young to expect her to know how to give a signal.

set your dog up for success and teach her slowly and gradually.
