I’m so sad

My current foster, Pirate (some of you may remember the one who is missing a foot and I posted about him in the “show off your dog section”) is going to his new home in the morning. I’m sure it’s because I am pregnant and totally hormonal but I am so sad. He has been here a couple of months and I have gotten really attached. Tonight I was packing up his favorite cookies and his toys and it just broke my heart. I can’t stop crying. He’s been such a good boy and a best friend to Nano. Even Trucker and him have played and gotten along so well.

I love the family he is going to and I know he will be in great hands but I can’t help but feel like I am abandoning him. I guess it has a lot to do with the fact that my last foster puppy (Whiskey/Maggie) passed away after being in her new home only 10 days. So part of me is scared to let him go.

So please everyone wish Pirate good luck and happy BW vibes for a smooth transition to his new home!

We are sending the 'best, best of luck' vibes to Pirate. I'm glad to hear you like the family he's going to....are you going to get to see him? Yes, pregnancy makes us VERY emotional...I know when I was pregnant with my 3 I was like a fountain of tears!! I hope Pirates new family will become members of the BW family!!! All the best....:)

I know you'll be sad but you have really done a great job, give yourself a pat on the back, and then open another box of tissues:)
Sending lots of "settling in easily"vibes for Pirate.
Is Pirate's new home very far away, could they all have a playdate together??

It's definetely hard letting them go......I'm sure he will never forget you!!! Can you visit him or would that be too hard and confusing for Pirate? You really do deserve a huge pat on your back for what you do!!!! Your an angelicon for taking these babies in...caring for them and getting them ALL ready for thier new homes.

It's wonderful that Trucker was able to play with Pirate so well appicon maybe in the near future you can get them together again??

I wish you the Best Of Luck Pirate!!!! Sending (((HUGS))))
Keep us updated

Oh, I'm so sorry. It has to be heartbreaking to let him go. But know that you have given him so much in the short time you've had him, and taught him so much that now he is ready to make a terrific addition to someones family, and it's largely thanks to you. :)

I can remember crying to phone commercials when I was pregnant. You definately get a bit more emtional.

Good luck Pirate!!

Don't be sad ... you did a great thing for Pirate. And don't think for one minute that he won't remember who "rescued" him!!

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement.

I just dropped him off a few hours ago. It was bittersweet. He has a great family. They are capable of providing him with everything he needs. He has a mom (who stays at home), a dad, another dog (a Jack Russell puppy), and three skin kids. He lives in an awesome neighborhood and will truly live the “good life”. His family is a boxer family. They just lost their three boxer babies within 5 months of each other (two at the age of 12 and one at the age of 10). I know he is in a great place but we will miss him dearly.

Pirate now lives about 45minutes from us. Not super far but not close enough that we will run into them. But the family will keep in touch. They promised emails and pictures.

I know this is hard for you! You did an amazing job with pirate! It's so good to hear (and a relief to you, I'm sure) that pirate has gone to a great family that will love him to pieces! Will they keep you posted (if so.. keep us posted! ;)) He's such a cutie! I would have adopted him in a heart-beat if I lived closer! Hugs to you!
