just an update... I have phased Loki over to adult food within the past 4 days. today being the last day I am giving him a mix and my family already notices a difference! He is still on the move but its not all the time pacing and trying to get into things. he actually laid down for a half hour and relaxed while i did homework the last night!! Thanks for the suggestion of switching him over to adult food people always told me 12 months.

oh and about the earlier suggestion of getting him a kong. he has one but doesn't seem to care much for it unless there is a tiny bit of peanut butter in... and i swear no matter how far back i put the peanut butter its gone in 5 minutes or less :)

Luther just turned 1 June 2nd and boy with in the last week he just gets it. He listens to commands and has settled down. It just clicked one day and now he just gets it. Give you pup a few months and they'll grow up. Other boxer owners told me that and I didn't believe them but now I do.

"One thing just make sure do NOT put your Boxer on Large Breed dog food-boxers are not large breed dogs."

Jaimie,
I'm curious about this comment since the "Large breed puppy growth" formula is what our Vet gave us on our first visit. So, this is what we've been feeding Cassius...just wondering what your reasoning is.

Thanks!

MDCS-Boxers are not considered large breed dogs. A lot of people think they are, and feed them as such. A healthy male dog needs to exceed 100 Lbs or more to be considered a "large breed dog". SO, Great Danes, German Shepherds, Rotties, Mastiffs among others are considered large breed dogs. Feeding the wrong kind of food to your boxer (ie: large breed food) can cause them to grow too quickly for their body to handle causing problems with joints, hips, etc.. Hope this helps answer your question.

Jaimie:)

Thanks for the info! I'm kinda worried now...should I change his food (gradually of course!)? I would never want to be the cause of any future health problems for him. I'm also upset that the vet didn't know that and gave us the wrong formula smashicon grrr

What kind of food do you have him on? I would definately change him to a different food that is not for large breeds! Check out the feeding forum and get some ideas.

Good Luck,

Jaimie
