Hyper-Hyper-Hyper

I know my girl is hyper. I am used to it and wouldn't change any part of her personality for anything in the world....(well sometimes the whining because she is SO spoiled, but thats another post).

Today on our walk we saw the mailman. She has met him multiple times, (my dh and him talk alot about cars), anyhoo, he comes over to pet her. She is just her typical wild-woman self. All wiggles and beaning like mad. He told her that he wasn't going to pet her if she continued to act like that. I told him that what she was doing was just as normal to her as breathing, she couldn't stop wiggling if she wanted to. I also told him that right at that particular moment in time he was the most important thing in the world to her, just his very presence was making her day! Well, he "tried" to pet her, but of course it's hard to pet a moving target. He had to get back to his route but replied that boxers were just "hyper-hyper-hyper", and he would never own one because he believed them to be missing a few brain cells due to the fact that they act that way.

Needless to say I immediatly replied "To each his own" and walked away. SO, I am trying not to be bummed out but I felt as if I were being shunned just because my girl was. How to you explain to someone that they are missing out on the experience of a lifetime by not having one of these love-bugs in their life?

Just needed to vent.

Ooohhhh that wasn't very nice, but as you said to each his own. Zoey is the same way. Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle and just all over the place. I agree it is hard to explain to someone that they are missing out on the experience of a lifetime by not having a Boxer. Their loss.

How very annoying and downright rude of him to make that comment. Obviously not a dog lover in the first place. If he were, he would have seen her for how she was - just very excited to see her friend. His problem, not yours, so don't even second guess yourself He can just go on and be his little negative self all he wants. It's in no way a reflection of you or your girl

Sirus is the very same way...but just like you...I wouldn't change a single thing about my baby boy! My dog fits my personality perfectly.
When people ask me how I deal with such a hyper dog I tell them that first and formost, not every Boxer is like Sirus, then I tell them that Boxers aren't for everyone...it takes a certain (what I really want to say is SPECIAL) type of person to be owned by a Boxer. Then I tell them that he compliments me perfectly and then they sort of understand. Sirus is my world...and I love every crazy little wiggle that comes from that dog!

Don't feel bad. I know there are some breeds that no way would I own. Doesn't mean I don't love them all, but I know they wouldn't work out in my home. Of course I wouldn't have said it that way, but some people say things not realizing that it hurts others. Just love on Cami and she'll make you feel better!
