My 8 week old puppy has hurt his rear leg today. I dont know how. It is very sensitive when I touch it and he keeps it raised. He weighs 8lbs. Can I give him an aspirin and if so how much. Any other advice is welcome
DO NOT give him aspirin or anything else. Especially since he is so young. Take him to the vet ASAP. Please keep us informed on how he is! Please I know it costs money but if he hurt his leg really bad then he could end up with permanent damage if it isn't taken care of quickly enough. My nieces dog broke her elbow (from the heavy door hiting her when she went out) and she STILL (over a year later) has serious problems with her leg. She waited a week to get it looked at!
I am sorry to hear about your puppy. I just called our Emergency vet tonight because my little guy had a fever. I wanted to give him asprin or tylenol and the vet advised that it is a serious no no. It can be very harmful....
I suggest taking your little one in - hopefully it's just a bump and he can be given some pain meds.
I agree w/ everyone else. If it hurts him when you touch that area, you should take him to the vet to check it out, especially if he keeps it raised and doesn't put any weight on it.
