huge cyst on back

I got my baby Dusty who is 2 1/2 this past saturday. she is a very skinny little boxer baby. she has a huge 1inch in diameter cyst on her back. the previous owner said it is a fluid filled cyst from when she got her puppy shots. when you move her skin it moves. her vet told her it was cosmetic and was fine. any thoughts? also she was fed science diet I know crap food and I am switching her to taste of the wild salmon. she has been itching behind her ears and biting her feet. she has not alot of hair behind her ears and on her bum. how would I know to look at her if it was mange? I am taking her for a vet check on

the bump could be from her puppy shots... or something else. my girl is 9 months old and still has a little soft raised area on her upper thigh where she got one of her puppy shots that never completely went down. ask your vet about that and the sparsely haired spots when you have your visit. the vet can usually tell you if it's mange with a simple skin scrape. mild cases of localized mange are fairly easy to treat and nothing to stress over. my boy had it when he was young and it can take a while for the hair to grow back but it eventually does. good luck!

Tufflove thanks for your reply. I scheduled Dusty tp have surgery feb 20th to remove the lump on her back. I hope it goes ok. I am worried about recovery.
