Zak can get a little excited and loves to chew his toys. Well, he has ripped holes in two of them and of course they are his favorites. I want to repair them but am not sure what type of thread to use that will not hurt him if he should be able to tear them again.

Please advise as to the type of thread that is durable enough for these destructive teeth.

Thanks, Jen

Brutus likes to tear open his toys. I use fishing line to sew them back together. Tough stuff! He doesn't tear into his toys though while I'm gone. Only when I'm there not paying enough attention to him. I've also used dental floss to sew them together. Neither should hurt them. Good luck!!!

Tobi got his first "fluffy" toy this past weekend. It took him 2 days to rip it open and tear all the stuffing out. My wife just removed the remainder and gave it back to him. He seems to like it just as much. He just walks around with it in his mouth ALL THE TIME!!

Thanks for your tips

Thank you for all your quick responses to my question about repairing torn toys. I think I will try fishing line or dental floss as one of the items is a huge lion, that actually is a young childs toy, but he loves to sit on it and chew on its ears. I cut off all the mane on its tail and around its head but he has managed to get a hole in it. I use to remove the stuffing from the toys of our beloved deceased boxer and he loved them that way but this item is simply too large to do that.

Also another toy, which was a childs toy from a consignment shop is a roothog which snorts as he chews on it. The batteries are encased in a screwed together unit but he has managed to ripe a hole in the fabric at the base of the case. He absolutely loves this hog because it interacts with him as he presses on it.

A friend of mine that raises boxers told me about purchasing good quality children's toys from consignment shops for the boxer. My Taz never received real toys only dog toys but I have to admit that Zak really enjoys the human toys best because they respond to him as he plays with them. I have also purchased him a piano which when I ask him to play me a song, he will go over and put his paws on the keys to make them play and when the little butterfly on top spreads her wings and says, "I love you", he really gets excited.

Again thank you for your help and Zak will be extremely happy when he gets his hog and lion back. Jen

Ruben loves his "babies". He has kongs, cuzs, balls, and ropes but nothing can ever take the place of his stuffed toys. When he was a puppy DD gave him a few stuffed animals that she no longer wanted but to his day (almost 3 yrs later) his favorite thing to do is to sneak into her room and steal a baby off of her bed! LOL

After a while I gave up on repairing the stuffed toys. The "dead toy" pile just kept getting bigger and bigger and Bella never seemed to miss the ones that needed fixed anyway. But it's amazing that she has ones that she tears up in a day and some have lasted since she was a puppy!

We've only had our boxer for a month, but have already thrown away many, many torn up toys:):) - We went to pet smart, etc and bought all of these fancy toys, but wouldn't you know her favorite ones are the 99 cent squeaky toys from Wal Mart - when she tears them up, we just pick up another one while we're shopping!

Kid's toys - great idea!
