My Allie's coat doesn't seem to be very shiney, She eats Canidae all life stages, but her coat just isn't as shiney as I think it could be any suggestions?

shiny coat

Hi,I have a 4 month old and we feed him candidae also but he gets a supplement called nupro with it. It helps with a number of things including allergies, itching, shiny coat etc.He loves the taste ,it makes a awesome gravy when wet. you can go to their website for more info.but I have to say we had him at the park and one person asked to take a picture of him and another man came over and said" what a beautiful coat". Good luck.

I feed my boy Canidae too. I also feed him a raw egg on top of his dry food once every two weeks or so and it makes his coat so shinny and soft.

Both our pups had d-mange several months ago and we did a little research on the subject. We started giving them "Missing Link" supplement, 1 raw egg once a week and they also get 1 tsp of raw apple cider vinegar in each of their meals (2 per day). We also feed them Canidae.

These products also help in other ways (immune system) - but they have the most beautiful coats - soft and shiny. We were going to stop it but we see many benefits we decided to keep them on this regimine. The apple Cider vinegar also clears up the dark tear stains that show on white dogs (it took about 3 mos for that to happen) - but I swear by it.

Good luck.

The food you are feeding is one of the healthier processed foods however not all foods work for every dog.

Supplements can help however I wouldn't supplement JUST to get a more shiney coat. A lot of things can be added to the diet as have been mentioned, and they can also offer other health benefits.

If the coat is poor there might be something else going on. If the skin and coat are ok but just not as soft/shiney as YOU would like it may just be your Boxers "normal".

Don't compare your dog to another. Is this something that has changed recently? If so it *could* be a health issue.

Im surprised to hear that her coat isn't shiney eating Canidae. I originally had Cody on Eukanuba puppy, but switched to Canidae and his coat couldn't be shinier.

I'm a huge fan of the missing link supplement. We started feeding Keira the supplement about 1 month ago because of her allergies, hoping it would help. We love it because of MANY reasons. We get the one with the glucosamine for their joints and her coat is beautiful. She loves it too because it covers the fishy smell of her food!

How do you get your dogs to take the apple cider vinegar? I've tried it with Keira and she hates it. Tried in her food and she wouldn't eat it, in her water and she wouldn't drink it.....

Apple Cider Vinegar

We give them canidae kibble mixed with about 1/2 cup of water and I just add 1 tsp to their food and they just eat it. They are a little fussy sometimes if I slip with the bottle and give them too much - but it's never been a problem.
