Hopefully within the next week, the fence company will be over to finish fencing in our yard. We'll be able to let the dogs run free (supervised of course!!) without having to worry about them running into the street. There is another boxer that lives about 5 minutes (walking) from my house. Their yard isn't fenced in so he's always tied to a tree. He's not left outside a lot, but I do feel sorry that he doesn't have a big yard to run in. As soon as my fence is finished, I'd like to bring Riley for a walk over to see if they would like to bring their dog over to play. The only thing is that I'm really shy and I'm not one that likes to take the initiative on some things. What should say to invite them over??

Like Carol said, see if you can get a feel for these people. If they seem receptive invite them over for a play date when the fence goes up. As Boxer owners, if they don't ahhh and goo goo over Riley then I'd say you have a pretty poor chance. Some people just don't get a clue. Then again maybe you'll get lucky.
Good luck.:)

Hi! how old is this other boxer? I know he's tied to a tree but that doesn't necesarily mean they don't care, maybe they just want him to have some outside time to lay in the fresh air and its safer seeing they don't have a fence and you say he's not always tied out there.

Sure walk by if anyone is there say Hi and if you get to talkingjust ask. I went for a walk the other day and Ozzy met two other female boxers and the owners asked if Ozzy would like to come and play in their back yard! They can only say no.

let us know what happens

Put a note (playdate invitation) on their mailbox *to* their dog *from* your dogs with an RSVP.

It could read: Dear Boxer Neighbor, Would you like to come check out our new fenced in yard with me for some boxer play? We would like to have you. How does next Saturday from 12:00 to 1:00 sound? Call me on ***-**** if you can come. etc, etc.

Your boxer neighbor,

Reiley

We had to tie Loke to the clothes line pole when we didnt' have a fenced yard, otherwise she was gone!! But now she is trust worthy outside unleashed. That doesn't mean they are uncaring to have him tied out.;) But I would surely get to know them, since you have a boxer that is a starting point. THere are some good suggestions listed above. Best of luck and I hope they are truly boxer people.:p

I don't think they're uncaring people because the dog isn't always outside. I do see him just about every morning and on some afternoons. I just hate seeing dogs tied up that's all. Especially now that I know that boxers are very funloving and playful. I thought it would be nice to give both dogs a playmate and for that dog to be able to run free.

Oh I can tell by looking at this dog that it's still a puppy. Not a baby baby, but still a puppy. He's probably around 6 or 7 months. He's a dark fawn with a little bit of white on the muzzle. Very handsome puppy!!!

GOOD IDEAS EVERYONE!!!!!!

everyone above here has had some good ideas and some good points! if you are shy, in which, i USED to be.....take your time and feel them out a little. hopefully they are nice people and won't say no right off hand. but understand this, they could be shy also, and might be hesitant on letting their boxer come down and play with you. you know? their boxer might be a beloved pet that could be well over the age of wanting to run around and pounce on another dog. do you know the age? or estimated age? they may have not enough money to afford to put up fencing and that is his only time outside. so, they may jump on the idea of having their dog go to your house to play for an hour or so. check it out. go ahead! good luck and keep us posted on this issue!!!!!!

How many dogs do you have? How many boxers? It might work if you said something like " I would love to have another boxer for Riley to play with, would you mind me borrowing your boxer once in a while. I could pick him up and bring him back". If you make it sound like they would be doing you a favor, it might work. Others had great suggestions too.
