I don't know about anyone else but I think everyone is different. Depending on where their dogs play and what they get into. I don't really have harley on a set schedule. I usually keep him brushed and then spray him down with body spray. He probably gets a bath once every 2 weeks or so. But then again it could be sooner if he decides that the great aroma of a dead animal laying in the field is too hard to resist.nonoicon

Boxers should only have 2-3 baths per year since there fur is so short and skin drys easily..

Do some searches on here using the search button above to find out more information.

It is okay to brush, rinse, and maybe use a spray if ur pup smells. But the shampoo's tend to dry the skin so be careful.

I personally will rinse my pup now and then when its hot out and shes been playing a lot out side.

Hope this helped.. Goodluck!

My dogs only get baths every 6 months or so unless they decide to roll in the grass in that great smelling poo a neighbors dog decided to leave me. Which doesn't happen often anymore thank goodness! The only other time is if they are really shedding bad, have dander, or are itchy in a specific spot. Other than that they get brushed every few weeks just to get rid of dead skin/loose hair.

In Riley's first year of life, he's only had 4 baths that I can recall. Three of them were really needed!! The first bath was more or less a "he's finally home and I can give him a bath" type of thing. Two of the other times, he decided it would be nice to lay down on a part of our driveway that has a patch of grease on it. Needless to say, he stunk to high heaven and I wasn't about to let him up on the furniture with grease on his body. The last one came only about a week or so ago. Long story short, he was dirty, wet, and covered with mud.

Basically I feel that they shouldn't be bathed very often. As previously mentioned, it's not good for their skin. As an alternative, I've found that a simple sponge bath works just as well as a normal bath. It's much cleaner and easier as well. :)

Living in New York City, I have to wash Fletch more often than I would like thanks to the dirt he and his friends get into in the dog run, but have found that baby wipes work very well between baths. I have seen doggie wipes in the pet store, but they tend to be WAAAAY overpriced. The baby wipes you can get in a large container and most are hypo-allergenic.

Bella gets bathed (shower) about once a week. We go down to the river allot and she gets really mudding... She seems OK though. We use a oatmeal based puppy shampoo that is supposed to be less harsh on the skin...

I read, during that crazy-I'm-getting-a-puppy-and-must-read-everything stage just before we got Cassius, that over-bathing causes more oil production in their skin therefore leading to a stinkier puppy. Taking this advice, we found Puppy Bath Wipes (kinda like baby wipes) at the store and use those in between baths along with brushings. Just something to keep in mind :)

I have given Niko only two baths since we got him. When we first got him, cuz he just stunk! And at the beginning of Spring cuz of the shedding thing. He would like to get a bath more, but I don't want to dry out his skin. I went to Petsmart the other day to get him a really good brush but left cuz of a salesgirl there. I asked her if they had any really good brushes for short haired dogs, and she asked for what kind of dog and I said Boxer and she said Why are you brushing your Boxer? DUH, cuz he's shedding, what the hell?! I was like uh, cuz I need to and cuz he's shedding! Freak!

I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't wash off that "puppy smell" for anything in the world. I so miss the smell of a puppy. Its one of the world's most wonderous experiences, in my view.
