How often do you bathe your boxer?

I only bath them if they need it, i wipe them down with doggy wipes mostly

Whenever she needs it. At the moment quite often as we are having heaps of rain and my yard is a mud bath - yuck. I tried just wiping her feet with wipes but I go through so many of them, so I dip her feet in a bucket of warm water and dry them well each time she comes in and give her a shower weekly - fortnightly (just depends on how hard she burns through the mud - sometimes she runs so hard it sprays up all over her). Less often when it's dry. If she goes for a swim in the lake or beach she will get a shower when she gets home as other local dog owners have told me their dogs tend to get skin irritations after going in the lake and the beach and her coat feels all gritty and yuck (it's too cold for her to be going for a dip at the moment though).

I would think every 2 weeks is too often. As many others have said, it's on a needs basis. For our girls they generally get a bath 4-6 times a year (they're stinky enough at the moment that they're both getting washed tomorrow). We also leave an old towel at the back door to wipe their feet before they come inside (just rotate a couple of towels through the wash).

My two probably get washed once every 3 months. When they start to smell like a dog . Or of course if they manage to get really filthy. But most of the time after a run through the muddy yard I am able to get them reasonably clean with a damp rag and a good rub down with an old towel. Cody will get very itchy and rashy if he is washed to often as I found out when he was younger.

My boy is only 7 months old and we got him in January.. We didn't bathe him at all over the winter. It was once all the snow was finally melting and things got muddy that we bathed him the first time. Now he seems to be very irritated to cut grass so if he plays outside outback within a couple days of the grass being cut wee give him a bath once he comes in. So we limit his backyard play when the grass has just been cut. So we basically bathe him when needed and I have never noticed that he smells bad (well other than the occasional deadly room clearing gas).

I will hose Lily down whenever she is outside just to cool her off. She now gets the reasoning behing my madness and will stand in the baby pool, barking at me til I give her the hosedown. She loves it cause it cools her off and she can stay outside longer now.

Usually, I only use shampoo on her about once or twice a year. Any other time it's just water.

Auto-cleaning dog!

I cleaned Dax once (with a bit of baby soap) when I got her because she smelled like the litter... Then I found out that she's has an auto clean coat. We go to the woods, she will walk in the mud, swamp and, well, anything dirty. When we got home, she's clean... or I let her dry outside a couple of minutes... then... she's clean. It's like the dirt dont stick to her coat. My friend didn't belived me and after a walk by a creek, he said: "see she's dirty!" After 10 minutes of walking on dry land, I told him to look... Clean dog !

The other time i washed her with the hose and a towel (no soap) because she rolled herself in poo. The smell lasted about 2 days.

I do the clean the paw, dry the coat with a dry towel when it rains but that's it. I dont see myself washing my dog every week. In my opinion, she does'nt need it.

Dax as her smell, you need smell her really closely to notice it and I do love that smell When she's wet... that is another story, but her fur dries quickly and the stinky smell goes away.

I think the oil on her coat doesn't allow the dirt to stick. I cannot prove that but I really belive it.

Moto is much the same way. On Saturday he must have been lying in some dirt as his rear was all dirty. A couple of hours later he as was clean again and I hadn't done anything. I love the Auto-Clean coat.

My boy Hayden gets one a week or every two weeks. his mom (my wife) is a clean freak so she has him in the shower with her often. he loves it though, she just opens the door and he jumps right in the shower and waits for the soap.
