Hi,
Just curious if there's such a thing as too much veggies. And is there a threat of over supplementing any vitamins by doing so? I'm not a barfer (yet anyway ;) - I 1/2 homecook and 1/2 kibble). I add veggies to the recipes but never sure how much. I just kind of throw some on there but I'm not sure if there's such a thing as overdoing it. The veggies always vary to what I have on hand...
How much veggies do you guys feed?
Thanks!

I don't measure them either but I generally use a large whole bag of mixed frozen veggies that I grind up and mix into their loaves (I make about 10 loaves at a time) plus I make veggie mush(liquified) in which I had a huge heaping tablespoon to their evening meals about every other day.

My mush consists of whatever is on hand- we eat alot of salads and steamed veggies so it varies.

My guys won't touch a veggie unless its well hidden

The Whole Dog Journal once mentioned in an article about a small mix breed dog that had been put on a complete veggetarian diet start at 8 weeks old....

He lived to be 22 years old....

As for me, I feed 10% of their weekly intake in veggies...usually mixed in with their liver...

I used to obsess about the amounts when I first started barfing, but now feel more comfortable and relaxed about it. After a while you will be able to determine the amount that best works for your dogs. For instance, if the stools are getting too hard and they are straining, add more veggies. If, on the other hand, the stools are getting too loose, then I generally cut back. You'll know after doing your own "field testing" ~ Cathy
