How much sleeping is normal for a 2 1/2 month old puppy

I have a 2 1/2 month old puppy. He seems to be sleeping alot. He will wake up when he hears me put food or water in bowl, or take his leash to take him out. Sometimes he will wake up to play with my female, but after about 20 mins. he will just go in his crate and go to sleep. He went to the vet for his check ups, and my vet said he is healthy, except for a level 1 heart murmur, which she said she is not concerned about, because he is growing perfectly (14.5 pds), When I got my female she was 4 months old, she slept but nothing like this puppy. So I am just curious how much sleeping is normal and what is not normal. Any advice would surely help.

Puppies do sleep a lot. They play hard and sleep hard. Sometimes it seems like they're sleeping more than they're awake.
My Mom always said that puppies grow when they sleep.

Oh my if only Guinness would sleep like he did when he was 2months old!!!! JK!! He did sleep ALOT...it was slowly less and less as the weeks went by. He is 5 months now and a little ball of energy...but he does still take a nap or two during the day...Play hard, sleep hard....that's him to a "T"!!

Puppies sleep alot. Let him. He will grow during his sleep.

And just enjoy the peace and quiet. It won't last long
