How much does it cost?

I know that having a website costs money, so much a month and then someone to do it for you if you can't yourself. I can have a web site on my server which is sympatico but what is the cost approx. to have a site like a ".com" site. Someone told me its about 60.00$ a month and someone else said it like $70,000.00?? Just wanted to hear from you guys that have web sites.

I have a free website on Yahoo/GeoCities and that includes web hosting. But there is an ad banner on the side, and there isn't much FTP to help upload the files so you have to upload everything individually. But it's free. And the domain is something like "geocities.com/scrapperworld" It's not for a business so it works fine.

If you want to reserve your own private domain name such as "Scorpio.com" or whatever, it's about $25 per year, if you go for three years. If you go for five years at a time, it's even cheaper. Then you might have to pay more for web-hosting, but that's maybe $10 per month, or it can be lots more, depending on the services you need. If you want someone to design a website for you, that depends on who does it - commercial ones can cost thousands of dollars. Or you can play around yourself and try, there is a lot of info on the web to help you.

I don't have a domain name, but did my own webpages, using a "cheat" program. :D :D My server includes 5 mg of space for personal webpages in my monthly fee.

Not quite as fancy as many, but it is free and I did it myself. With an easy program, it is not hard. I went through several different programs before I found one that I could figure out.

I have a website on Geocities for my business which is the .com address you were talking about (www.the name of my business.com) and i pay 12 dollars a month if I can recall correctly, for 50 megs of storage. It also includes up to 10 email addresses with the same domain name. Of course if you want someone else to design the page for you it can cost anywhere from $500 to $2000 depending on what you want plus an additional charge to keep it updated. Hope that helps.

If you can host your website on your own server, then all you will be paying is the fee for the domain name. Domain names are cheap and you just renew the name each year.

www.godaddy.com is where you can pick a domain name and see if its been taken already. If it hasn't then you can buy it. :D

godaddy is the best and cheapest!

There's also www.verisign.com or www.networksolutions.com
