How much do you think your boxer understands?

My kids are like kids...
Santana cries when he wants something. So I say"Show Mommy" and he goes and show me what he wants which most of the time is the bone on the counter I took from him the night before! Such a memory!
And don't ever curse at him because he will get very offended!
Charlette is different she is our little powerhouse and we say "who's there" and she's at the door.
They both LOVE riding in the car.. so when we say let's go to the beach they are all for it! When we come home we say"what do you have for Mommy (daddy) today and they run to get a toy to show us of course they are doing there "happy dance" at the time.
We love the everyday things they amaze us with. And if my husband is not feeling well they just know because they try to snuggle with him. Wouldn't trade them for the world!

My two are very different. I talk to Gunner in regular conversational language and his mellow self listens and clearly understands, but Sammy she just seems to have so many things binging around in her head at the same time, she just looks at me blank and has no idea what I am saying. I don't believe she is acting like she doesn't know, she really doesn't. If I say do get your new toy, Gunner will slowly meander to where ever it is and bring it back. Sammy only gets the one word "toy" and will just start beaning in front of me, toy toy toy oh boy toy oh boy toy...lol.

I'm amazed at just how much Murray understands! And, I know for sure that there are plenty of times he knows exactly what we're saying and chooses to ignore us!smashicon

One evening, my hubby and I were in bed, ready to sleep and Sera was still in her "playing mode". She accidently scratched my face and I put my hand up to it to see if she had drawn blood. (Her pads are extremely rough and her nails hadn't been trimmed for a little while.) Dave went on about how she hurt Mommy and told Sera she needed to apologize for hurting me. We both lost it when she got this serious look on her face, looked me square in the eyes and let out a "woo-woo" woof. She sure apologized!! And we've always known that she's a very smart young lady!!

tank knows the names of all the extended family members who visit here often, for example he will get more excited when he hears the name of someone who plays with him more, than if he hears the name of someone who doesn't often play with him. the words walk, run, treat, and vet all have to be spelled in our house..... and he knows other words like hug, kisses, and snuggles. he also knows the names of his toys, ball, or "baby". i think it's so cute when i ask him if he wants a hug, and he walks over and leans against my legs so i can hug him. :p

It was 6:30 am one morning, Krose was standing by the bedroom door, and I could only lift one eye up, looked at the clock, danr early to be going out potty, told Krose to come back 15 minutes later.
Next time I saw Krose's face, looked at the clock and it was 6:45 am:eek:
How the...????

LOL!

Basak, that's too cute!

I wish Lexi understood how to tell time. My alarm goes off at 5:30 every morning, but I hardly ever get to sleep that late. It's a given that Lexi wakes me up between 4 & 4:30 to potty. If I don't get up with her, she "taps" my face until I do.

Gotta love 'em.

Oh, they know!

I think they know too much! I have an American Bulldog named Tank and Bodie my boxer. Several months ago, they were horsing around in the back yard and I can't believe I don't remember how this started but Tank had gotten Bodie upset. While Tank was squatting to pee, Bodie came right up and lifted his leg on Tank and peed on him! It was not very funny at the time because Bodie loves water but Tank is 105 pounds and hates to be bathed. Just last week, Bodie had gotten into some wood we keep outside for our chiminea and was trying to eat it. I caught him but some wood splinters must've been in his mouth because we were sitting in my office and all of a sudden he threw up right on to Tanks behind! He didn't even try to move someplace else! Poor Tank!
We too have to spell out things like ride, walk, park, treats...otherwise they will be crying all day!

Gosh there are so many to talk about: But one that comes to mind is when we are running late in the morning and I let the boys out one last time Oskar usually goes right away but there are times when he wants to play and I tell him "Oskar stop trying to play and do your business Mommy and Daddy are late" He stops dead and pees and comes trotting back in. Scary sometimes!

I'm amazed at the way they understand phrases better than they respond to "commands". I don't know if its a key word, the tone of voice or what it is, but phrases seem to get immediate responses.

Lets go play in the Snow (runs to the door and beans wildly)
Thats Enough (slinks over and sits at my feet)
Hurry, go pee, its raining (runs, pees and runs back)
Lets get in the car (back door, excitedly)
where's the toy? (alertly runs around looking for something to chew)
Are you ready for dinner? (to the kitchen door, lies down)
Out of the bathroom please (out of the door, turns around and sits)
I'm so disappointed, that was just terrible (just like "thats enough" but his little nub just won't stop...he knows he is in trouble)
Where are the cookies? (to the kitchen counter and looks at the cookie box)
Come here boy! (runs madly in my direction)

Sit (just stands there unless there is a cookie in the hand)
Stay (not on your life)
Down (the "why? whats in it for me?" look)
Come (I'm thinking about it, but I'm not really ready yet)

Well, you get the idea, and from these posts, you know exactly what I'm talking about. I love that little smart brain at work!
