How much do you feed your pups?

Hi Just wondering......I am feeding Nutro Large Breed Puppy growth control formula. Feeding 2 times a day 1 1/2 cups each time. My pup looks good but she's very high energy.(news flash)
So is that enough? she seems hungry between meals. She is 12 weeks old. Thsanks

We were feeding our puppy 3 times/day up until she was about 4 months, I believe. If your puppy seems hungry in between meals, try feeding 3 times instead of two and maybe increase the amount of food to 4 cups instead of 3.

When we fed Nutro Natural Choice, we fed our girl 4 cups/day (according to the label/directions). After we reduced her to two meals/day, we gave 2 cups in the a.m. and 2 cups in the p.m. She let us know when she wasn't interested in the afternoon meals b/c she quit eating them. As I said before, she was about 4 months old.

Now, we feed Wellness twice/day. She gets appr. 2.5 to 3 cups/day depending on what fruit/veggies/meat we add to her meals. Madison is not overweight and extremely healthy. She weighs about 58-60 lbs, is 24 in. tall at the whithers and is full of energy. She will be one next Monday.

Try the 3 meals/day at 3.75 cups (easily divided) and see how that works. Best of luck.

Thanks so much for your information. Although this is our second Boxer dog this is our first time with a puppy our other was a rescue, a man was giving him away in front of the store I worked at. That dog changed our lives. He was such a character and inseperably from my husband his loss was a devestating one. He was fearless and on saturday night a few weeks ago he took on a pack of coyotes unaware to us He was on duty protecting our livestock, which he loved to do. So we got D-nT's Princess Jacki in his honor.

I let my boy eat all day long as much as he wanted until he turned 1yr 6mos. Now I feed him about 4-6 cups of pedigree mealtime depending on the amount of exercise he has had that day. He is about 25 inches tall and around 70 pounds now so he is a big boy but very lean.

Rocky is 6-7months old (rescue so we don't know his exact age) and he gets 2cups of nutro max puppy a day. One cup at lunch with some pasta and chic. broth. I cup at dinner with pasta and veggies. He loves his meals!!

Gidget is 8 months old and eats 5 cups of food per day and is still thin in the backside! I can relate to "High Energy" I had a rough time with her food adjustment but at 12 weeks old she was eating the three cups of food that your pup is eating. I also free fed her up until about 6 weeks ago. She seems to eat better on a twice a day schedule. If she seems hungry between meals try offering 2 cups of food at one of the feedings. Don't worry to much, they seem to fall into a routine after a while. Marcia
