Sweet, Sweet Seniors

Our guy Taz is 8.5 and so very very gray. He is the most distinguished, stately, classy guy in the world. He reminds me of a lion when he's laying down looking at you. They're so full of wisdom, knowledge and grace it's just unbelievable. My other two are 5 & 3.

I really hope down the road to take in senior that need rescuing because I think they get so overlooked many times for the younger dogs.

Seniors are the best!

Bailey will be 9 in May. She started getting grey about 1.5 years ago. She is still full of energy and spunk though.:)

I too love the seniors. I have a 10 year old and a 2 year old (and a 12 year old chihuahua). Legacee turned 10 in August. She can still give Cain a run for his money at times but she definitely does not have his stamina.

Her face, so black at one time, is now completely gray and it just makes her look so wise. I get sad sometimes just noticing the ways that she has aged, but I would not trade her love for anything in the world.

Boxer Buddy
Reuben was found as a stray so I'm not sure how old he is but the vet thinks around 10yrs old. He's got the gray face and I see gray in his coat everywhere else too.:) I've only had him about a year but it breaks my heart to think of somebody dumping such a sweety. The senior gallery sounds like a great idea!

Tegan just turned 7 in August, but nobody told her that she was now a senior! This has been her best year yet - she earned TWO agility titles in 2.5 months!!! This is very difficult to do with any dog, but a senior Boxer, is unheard of!

She is now very grey in the face, but she LOVES life more every day. She is still competing in agility (will start again in the spring) and gives Owen (4 years old) a run for his money.

I am so glad to hear about all the seniors on the board. They are just so special. They have been through alot in their lives and the continue to be as sweet and playful as ever.

I too agree that a seniors gallery is a great idea.

2 seniors here.

Bailey is 12 & 1/3.
Cassie is 11

Though they may slow down "somewhat", there are days when Bailey acts like a puppy; like yesterday. She was full of it, giving Buster (2-1/2 heck), even aggravating Cassie just to stir things up. She wears out much faster, but has her moments.

Unfortunately, both of my seniors have health issues - diabetes, thyroid, cataracts, seizures, sarcoma. But they're still being spoiled to the hilt!

We lost our senior boy almost 2 years ago now, just before his 10th birthday :(

There is something irresistable about seniors, with that grey face and just that air of calmness and of being self assured and knowledgable. Got to love em :D

Our first boy was a senior when he came to live with us. The vet thought he might have been about 11. He was only with us 10 months before we lost him but he was and will always remain my gentle giant. Five has been with us going on four years now and the vet thinks she is 8 or so. Her beautiful little face is going gery now and we think she is losing her hearing, but she still gives Tyson what for!!! I just love the seniors....they are so noble.

Titus is a "senior!"

It's hard to believe this, but my Titus is considered a senior! He will be 8 in April. He only has a smattering is white showing in his muzzle. Don't tell him he's a senior, though. He jumps around, kidney beans and tears through the house, wrestles with his sister, Lady, yup, don't call him "old!" He recently went on thyroid medication, that's the only indication that he is getting older.
