Boxer Pal
Hello Everyone,

My baby Tyson is 9 months today and I have been thinking lately that he still goes outside to do his business quite often.

I know he is still a puppy, however it seems that he needs to go out almost every one, 2 hours the most. I would think the older he was getting the longer he would be able to hold, however that is not the case.

Lately he has been waking up 2 times during the night sometimes 3 times to go outside, other times he sleeps thru the night and does not wake up.

I am wondering if this is normal or should I visit my vet.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would visit the vet and make sure he doesn't have a UTI.

Personally (and all dogs are different) at 9 months my boy was only choosing to go out 3, maybe 4 times during the day. Now at 19 months it's more like 2-3 times a day and he never gets up to go at night even on weekends when we sleep in.

As I said though all dogs are different, but every hour or 2 at 9 months seems a little much if it's really that way all day long. I'd just want to make sure it wasn't a UTI.

UTI sounds plausable and worth checking out. Does he drink alot? I wonder if it depends on the dog too? Only reason I say this is the first couple of nights we brought our boy home he went out once in the night but since then he does not go out at all in the night and has never had an accident in his crate. He is only 5 months. Thats why I wondered if it depends as I seem to have read about alot going out in the night. Say hi to Tyson from us!

I would agree with everybody else to visit the vet. Bonnie is 9 months old and has to go out 3-4 x's a day depending on how much water she has drank. She usually lasts 6-8 hours before she really has to go pee.

Zeus is 10 months old and will also ring the bell to go outside every 2 hours or so when I am home with him on the weekend. Otherwise, he is in the crate and able to hold it. He has been tested for a UTI and was negative.
