How long does heat last

How long does heat last, my little girl has been bleeding (yuck yuck yuck) for about 9 days, I know that heat lasts for about 3 weeks, just want to know when the yucky part should end. And does anyone know of anything that works better than diapers. And just to let you know before I get in trouble for not spaying her yet, she has an appointment 11/15, missed her last appointment due to a death in the family, and this was as fast as we could get her in. Any advise will be greatly appreciated

I cannot recall how long Angel's bleeding lasted but it seemed very long (atleast a month) I used children's generic brand pull ups from wal-mart and just cut a hole for her nubbin.
