My boxers have definately made life better. Just to name a few things:
1. I get more exercise and am in better shape.
2. I have many new friends that I would never have met without them.
3. I am never lonely. Even when DH and skinkids are gone I have furbabies to talk to and hug and kiss.
4. I have learned that stuff like furniture is just stuff that can be replaced. Love is priceless.
5. The best way to keep your hands warm in the winter is to snuggle with warm puppy.

Shakira has changed our lives in every aspect. She definately keeps me on my feet and if I dare sit down for even a second she will find something to steal and run out the back door with so I have to play her "catch me if you can game". I get so irritated sometimes, but when I look at that cute face with whatever she has hanging out of it, just waiting to run, I have to smile to myself that Gosh I love that dog. Shakira came into our lives after losing a much loved boxer mix. I told everyone I would never be able to find a dog with the faithful, soulful eyes that she had. I didn't know anything about boxers at that time or I would have known all I had to do was get a boxer. Shakira has those eyes and when I look into them I see Shelby and that is the biggest way she has changed my life, I not only have her but I still have our beloved Shelby right there in the center of Shakira's eyes.

Wow!! Duke's mom and i have quite a bit in common! I am also not able to have kids and have been devastated for some time .....Hubby wanted a dog and i was resistant....even downright nasty saying i did not want a dog and it was his responsibility and i thought the boxer breed was odd shaped with those big chests and skinny legs. OH MY OH MY!! I honestly believe God had everything to do with this...playing a trick on me....My boxers are the best decision i have ever made or been part of. They are nothing short of my kids and I honestly believe for myself and many others on here.....its a blessing and I am grateful....May not be the same as skinkids but i have nothing to compare it to! I love those dogs and they have enhanced the quality of my life and allowed me to love and nuture something like i never thought i would be a part of. Who would ever have thought i would love to get up at 7am to take my monsters out!! I drive 20 min to buy their food, take them everywhere with me (weather permitting), and would pretty much rather sleep with them than hubby....They cuddle SO much better!!

My babies have taught me all about unconditional love they make me laugh even when i want to stay angry - they make me happy when i'm really down in the dumps - brandy helped me through the sadness of a miscarriage last year with all her snuggles and kisses she seemed to know and we got tigger around the time that the baby should have arrived so for now he is the baby i lost since we are having alot of trouble trying to conceive again - hopefully that will happen - maybe for christmas fingers crossed.

they have brought alot of love, laughter and a great deal of happiness into our home and given me two beautiful babies to nuture and baby and this is from someone (me) who said to hubby yes you can have a boxer but she sleeps in the laundry, not allowed on ANY furniture and i don't want her in the house all the time ~ i brought her home and she slept with us for the first 14mths, she sleeps on the lounge with or without us,i have to fight for a spot on my lounge, she took over mummy's new sunbed and the back door is always open until bedtime so they can come and go as they please the big bad mummy was really a softy ;) but hey they're boxers - i didn't have a chance

Simply put, Toffee lights up my entire life.

She is always so happy that it's impossible to be in a bad mood around her (from stress) or to be sad for too long. She makes me laugh when I feel like crying. She loves me even when I'm in a bad mood (and she doesn't let me stay in one for long). She's entertaining with all the silly things she does. She's impressive with how smart and well-behaved she is. And she always give love and hugs and kisses.

As I said, she lights up my entire life!!

I can't count the number of times each day that Layla makes me smile and laugh. I don't mind being home alone when I have her with me. If hubby has to travel with rugby, I know I'm fine because I have her company. When she sits on my lap and cuddles or lays on my chest and sleeps I can't help but stare at her beautiful face and kiss her repeatedly. My heart is so full of love for her. I'm constantly called obsessed by people who don't understand the love of a boxer. But thats okay because she is worth being called a lot worse! She is mine and my husands whole life. We each kiss her in the morning when get up before stepping foot out of the bed and crawl back in bed with her after the shower for five more minutes of cuddling and are always like "Look at her now" "Can you believe how cute she is" She really is the best!

You all have taken the words out of my mouth! Your expressions of love for your babies rings so true and close to home.

I have to admit before Daisy came in to my life I didn't understand this stuff. I used to roll my eyes at my friend Jodi who has 4 border collies. They are her children and you can see her eyes light up when she talks about them. I thought she was a nut. Who's the nut now? I know when I come home from work it's Daisy waiting at the door for me. She is my little smooshy face and I love her dearly!

Oh so true...

I have never had a dog before Vegas. My parents never really wanted one.
So when i moved out on my own Gary and i decided to get a dog. He has had dogs all his life, but never a boxer. We have a family friend that had a boxer and i was in love with him. So i told G that when we get a dog it was going to be a Boxer and that was the end of it. As soon as we met our breeders dogs i could tell he was sold.

We are getting married in Aug and soon planning for a "skin child", (although i think i need a 2nd fur baby first). I have so much love for my Vegas that i wonder how great a parents love for their child is. I like to think its the same but in a different way, if that makes sense. I am thankful everyday to have vegas in my life.

Cheers to our fur babies that make all our lives greater and make the darker days bright again! appicon

She's my life

A number of years ago my fiance (at the time) decided he'd had enough of our life together and left me, with a mortgage, a lot of other debt, two dogs and a cat!

During this time I hit the lowest point in my life that I could ever imagine hitting. At one point I even thought it would easier if I wasn't around anymore.

And then Hillie came up to me, laid her head on my knee and looked at with with her all knowing eyes, she knew what was going through my mind. Looking at my sweet girl I suddenly realised that it wouldn't be fair on the people I left behind if I did something 'silly' to myself. How could I leave my family, how could I leave my Hillie...

Hillie saved my life that day and I will forever be grateful to her. She is my friend, my family, the one person I can always count on no matter what happens in life.

She is nearly nine now, her muzzle is getting more grey with each day and I truly fear the day she will no longer be with me.

But until that terrible, heart breaking day I will love Hillie with everything I have, I will protect her from anyone and anything that may ever try to harm her (including that old man Father Time), she is my life and she always will be.

Wow, Minty, your story sounds so much like mine!!! I have had a rough life, when it comes to men, and 10 years ago my fiancee and I broke up after 5 years. It was devastating for me, and, I could not seem to get it through my head that we were through. I still remained friends with him, hoping that something would change, but it did not. I was suicidal, in my 30's, with a great job but not much else. It was then that my ex-fiancee told me I should get a dog. My brother had a boxer, and Charlie was my brother's best friend. My brother had had a very bad marriage, and came out of it with his son Zack, and Charlie, the boxer. So, I took Joe's(my ex-fiancee) advice and we drove together to look at some boxer puppies. Only one was left. He was huge, very docile and not active. The breeders told me there were genetic problems with the litter, and that one sister had hydrocephalus(water in the brain.) When I saw the large, docile puppy, I did not care, I fell in love with him. When I took the puppy home, I named him Rusty, and hoped that things would get better in my life. At first, they did not. I got a phone call that I friend of mine down south had been killed in a semi accident, he was only 28 years old, and left a wife and 2 children. I was devastated, and took Rusty with me to the funeral. I left Rusty with a few friends, who also had a puppy that had just gotten over the "flu." Well, a few days later, on a Sunday, Rusty appeared limp and listless, and was throwing up. I called an emergency vet, and the diagnosis was parvo. Rusty did not have a very good chance of living, and I fell into a deep depression, thinking why does everything that I love die, or leave??? Well, every day passed, and little Rusty was in the hospital, a tiny skeleton, full of IV's, hanging onto life. As I sat with him, Rusty would raise his paw, with the IV in, and place it on the cage in front of me, as if he was telling me everything was going to be alright, and not to worry. Well, Rusty pulled through, and so did I. My life has been far from perfect, with 3 deaths occuring 1 year apart, but Rusty has always been there. When I want to die, and go to sleep, Rusty prods me to make sure I am still alive. When I have had a bad day at work, or am very stressed out, Rusty's happy smile and loving eyes greet me every day, pulling me up, and making me realize there are other things in life. When my fiancee now and I get into a bad fight, it is Rusty who jumps up on the bed with me, lying close to me, as if to take away all of my pain. Rusty is now 9 years old, and I wonder if I can ever live without him. Looking back, I think he was an angel sent to me, to keep me going, and to help me heal. Rusty, with genetic problems, has had more than his share of illnesses, but each time we get through it, and it makes me stronger, thinking of someone else besides myself. Now, I have 3 other boxers, who are all loving and devoted, but there will never be another Rusty.

How has a boxer changed my life??? Just put it this way, Rusty gave me back my life!!!!
