How does your boxer let you know it has to pee??

I never thought I'd use the word "pee" in writing in public, but well, here I am. Henri just turned 1 year and is "housebroken," but has never developed an interactive signal for letting us know he has to go out. What does your boxer do??? Henri once in a while has an accident if we dont routinely initiate the "potty outside" actvity.
Should they naturally make sounds by the door, or bark, or something?
We tried the bell thing, but then he just rang it to go outside and hang- you know- like every ten minutes. Scrap that.
He has been known to sit by the door, and if we are lucky enough to see him do that for the 30 seconds he gives us, we let him out. Otherwise, he pees somewhere. Not all the time, but randomly.
So, what do boxers do?
Any suggestions on helping him develop a sign?
Please advise!

Ours sit in front of the door and whine. Occasionally, he will do it just so that he can go out, but we know if he really has to go. By controlling his feeding time and the amount of water he drinks, his potty time has become more scheduled.

Hi

Mommy of 2 Boxers pups, You need to teach me the trick of the trade. Both of mine go out side to have a poop. But Pee - No such luck. Any where they feel happy they just sit and let every thing go.

Out of ideas any one got some good ones.

Pebbles barks at the door whens he has to go out, and then barks to come back in when she's done. I guess we did it by teaching her to speak everytime she wanted to go out, whether to play or to pee. Eventually I geuss she develioped a different bark for play vs. pee. Or maybe we just developed a sixth sense to know. :D
Anyways, what if you tried making them bark to go thru the door? It's a whole lot easier to tell they are at the door than when they are just sitting. Pebbles did taht at first, but we knew we'd never know how long she was sitting there if we were watching tv or osmething.

Hopefully this might help!!

Skyler sits in front of the door and lets out a great big *SIGH*, if gone unnoticed ( which sometimes I do when I know she just came back in 5 minutes earlier ) she will whine or come to me and paw at me then back to the door.

One morning, we slept in late, I guess she got tired of sitting in front of the door, and pee'd right on the rug that lays in front of the door. :( That was moms fault tho... so I never said a word to her about it.

Angel is 4 mths old and will start going around in circles and keeps going to the door when she has to go out..also she knows that IMMEDIATELY after she comes out of the crate.. out she goes.. Now Kinja is only 7 weeks and we just got him on sunday.. so we are still working on him.. Lastnight though he would whine in his crate and I would take him out and he would go everytime.. :)

Rock will go to the door and scratch. If that doesn't work he will come and get me (give me a strong look in the eyes, turn a circle and head for the door.) Sammy will come to me, nose me to get my attention ( like I don't know she's down there) whine, turn a circle and head to the door, checking to see that I am following.:D What good, smart dogs!

I know some people on here use bells on their door and train their dogs to nudge them when they need to go out. What we have done is bought a doggie door bell which is a paw shaped button that goes on the floor next to the door and when Gibson hits it it rings a door bell. Its all wire less and runs on batteries.
Alot of places online sells them, just do a search for "Pet Chime".

Good Luck

Ash whines at me. Kind of like a growl but whiney. I know he has to go. But usually I know when he has to go because he cant sit still or go to sleep. My foster I am having trouble getting her to stop peeing inside. I hated potty training and here I am doing it again. I have yet to catch her in the act of peeing in side. But I am learning when she wondres away shes looking for a perfect pee spot. So now she wonders I yell her name and make come to me then we both go outside. i think soon we will have her trained.

We too are having some minor problems with our 8 week old puppy. He goes outside to do his business anytime he comes out of his crate and right after eating which is great. He is also good about whining when he is in his crate and has to go. Sometimes he just pees inside for no good reason though and doesn't even try to go to the door. This morning he interrupted his breakfast to walk to the other side of the table and pee (he had just been out about a half hour before). I know he is still REALLY young and some of it will come with age but its like he doesn't even try on his own. He goes outside the majority of the time but that is because we take him out so predictably. Any suggestions???
