How Do You Pronounce Canidae?

Just from its spelling I would assume it’s pronounced can-ee-day. When the girl at the pet store rings it in, she says can-ee-die. :confused:

I pronounce it the way you do and at the stores that carry it where I live, they pronounce it the same. Only way to know is to call I suppose... ~ Lisa

I'm pretty sure it's pronounced Can-ee-day. You're right.

Maybe the girl at the pet store is Australian. :D

I guess that's a better spelling of it. I started off with can-i-die but it looked too much like "can i die?" so i changed it to "ee" but "uh" would have been a better choice

Another possibility: I took two years of Latin and the combo of "ae" is always pronounced long "i" like the girl at the store said it. That's how I would pronounce it but only because of taking Latin! Maybe the girl took Latin too!
